Is the point of burning a page in your journal a way to get rid of old baggage from your past??? I know, we used to burn our sins on the cross on Ash Wed. in my church... Same thing---kinda????

This journaling has got my curiosity up considerably. What a great metphor for just living life on the edge sometimes. Hmmm...I hope that doesn't mean that you get burned though!
My husband asked me today if I had purchased a coloring book for myself. When I showed him the journal he just rolled his eyes...but I found him asking if he could look at it a little while later. He had forgotten that he's helped me burn that page. LOL Goofy boys.
You have taken off, girl! I haven't been able to bring myself to burn the page yet. I've started the composting process and a few other pages but am still feeling very anal about the whole thing. I WANT to wreck...but I'm loving how I'm learning about letting go in the art process. It was abundantly clear to me this week in the studio how I agonize over one little line and how I attempt to play it safe. Here's to total wreckage (at some point)!

This is week three in The Next Chapter book group and we are Wrecking a journal.
The wrecking seems to get easier with each passing week.
Or, maybe I'm just getting into it.
Mr. Dragon is even asking if there is any journal wrecking to be done today! We've had several discussions about *turning loose* - not being so left brained. Relax. Enjoy. Be a kid and see where it leads us in our art/craft etc.

I followed directions and lost this page. Here it is almost torn out. I *lost* it on the running trail at Rice, but forgot to take the camera. I'm sure someone will pick it up and deliver it somewhere. Bye, Bye black page!
[Image] Burning the page was fun. I hung the page over the kitchen sink with the water running and let it burn, burn, burn and didn't set off the smoke alarm! The ash started a nice mess on the next page. A few pages near by are a little wrinkled from the water. Success!!

I think the ash after burning was the unexpected cool -- I smeared it all around! Nice radius of a burn!
