Nonsense verse is a form of poetry, composed for humorous effect, which is intentionally and overtly paradoxical, silly, witty, whimsical or just plain strange. (from wikipedia) Why you ask, do I mention this late on a Sunday night? well cos I just read one of the funniest (and cleverest) nonsense poems! not that I read literature, but I tend to browse around wikipedia alot (come on, everyone does it! just pick a random topic, read about it on wiki and then follow the links around various other topics! and NO I'm not a geek :p) and I stumbled on this great nonsense:
One fine day in the middle of the night,Two dead boys got up to fight.Back-to-back they faced each other,Drew their swords and shot each other.A deaf policeman heard the noise,And rushed to save the two dead boys.A paralyzed donkey walking by,Kicked the copper in the eye,Sent him through a rubber wall,Into a dry ditch and drowned them all.(If you don't believe this lie is true,Ask the blind man -- he saw it too!)
