Can you imagine if people starting trying this technique on the Lions Gate or in the Massey Tunnel?? Haha.

I've experienced a similar phenomenon in the NYC subway system: Passengers on the platform are supposed to let all exiting passengers leave first, then everyone moves on.

In many cases, some self-interested passengers try to force their way through the stream of disembarking passengers, slowing the whole system down and lowering the odds of both exiting and entering passengers getting where they need to go. People getting off the trains occasionally bump these people back off the train or into a pole by the door, which I have to admit makes me smile.

Yeah, subways suffer the same problems here. The Chinese government is really trying to educate people to let passengers off first: there are signs everywhere and markings on the floor. Sometimes they're not so bad but often they are.

Julia just passed her written test for a Chinese driver's license. Apparently most of the questions are about how much the fine is for breaking the (quite numerous) rules rather than the rules themselves. :)
