1084 - These are Chicago screws, used for things like securing leather straps. I've seen them on horse bridles, and my leather banjo strap uses them to stay connected to the banjo.

1084 - Specifically made for saw handle fastening like Canem says. Chicago screws are different.

It's a nailing machine, not necessarily for carpets, but you have the right idea.
