1420 is a penstock for a water wheel, controls flow thru the water wheel. used in an old water powered grist mill. there are lots of them still around in SC.
1417 -- attachment for a polaroid camera, usually to an oscilloscope or similar instrument. 1418 -- cigar cutter? 1419 -- toaster 1420 -- medieval back scratcher?

Those objects with the long handles were used to toast bread near a fire, some are a little fancier than others.

Did you know there is an old timer in Canada named Clive Rodger that collects curios and tools from bygone years? His website is Clive's Curios .. I think you would enjoy it.
