Poor Belle--at least she had the dance to remember.

Nicely done, Gail!

I have had similar experiences in the distant past, thought I really connected with someone while doing 'the dance,' but then at the end of the evening, that is all there was...and though it was sad at that time, it was all part of the dance of life. And....no regrets. But know that your poem resonated, captured something.....

I feel that spring is in the air
When poets write with such a flair
They speak of love they never knew
Like a thief at night away he flew
What a blessing not a pox
You'll avoid washing his dirty sox

What a lovely memory to treasure! This was written so well that I suspect you might have a special memory or two of your own from the past! :-)

What a memorable evening--and conveyed so well here. A charmer on the dance floor--perhaps you had him at his best and the rest would have been a disappointment! LOL

This is just wonderful!

I guess if I were to have written it it would have involved a lot of alcohol. It was only way that I (thought) I could dance.
