That's a lot of nuts.
I've never lived in one spot for long. No idea what a homestead feels like.

Gail, your place is so beautiful. How lucky you are to have such deep roots in such a wondrous place. I'm so envious of the things you were able to learn along the way--things I never even thought about before.

You remind me that I need to plant more trees, at least walnuts and pecans.

Enjoy the beauty of the season.

What beauty lies in your valley Gail and the folks that tend to it and care for it, reap the benefits Mother Nature lays out for them. In the case of hard work and nurturing, those in the valley feast. Beautiful post.

Your post is all that I love about fall--The waiting through the summer for the harvest, it's the best part of it, but the chill in the air, isn't.

I love the fragile pale green leaves up against the rugged stone wall. It is a study in contradictions. You sound just like me! Where you live, that is. We live in the Shenandoah Valley in a deep valley surrounded by The Blue Ridge Mountains.

I love all the colors of fall, as winter attempts to roll in. I bet you have all kinds of nuts to put up for months to come. To make homemade pies, cakes, and breads.
