Oh goodness Gail. You gathered so much. Hard to believe you had a frost. Welcome Fall! You had so many tomatoes; hope you like fried green T's. Stay warm. It has gotten chilly here too.
I love fall. I love everything about it. So much so that I forget how cruel it can seem. Probably because we don't get frosts here until January or February. What will y'all be making with the last gatherings?
I've spent the evening doing exactly the same thing. We are supposed to be at 32 tonight. Oh well it has been a good year of gardening. Now we start planning for next season. Blessings Marilyn
Yes I guess we knew it was coming I did mine the other day. Rush rush rush, silly we knew it was coming. You got a nice bunch of produce there even with the drought. Have a great weekend. B
Our weather is almost identical to your's. We had our first killing frost three nights ago. (Well, we did have snow mid-month, but it only got to just 32 and most everything but the most tender survived that.) We covered our little flower bed and I am still enjoying the beautiful colors. Your garden looks like it provided plenty!
There is simply no accounting for weather. We have had two frost warnings this month - yet no frost. Indeed one mini tomato plant is still trying to set fruit as I write this. (It's a wild one growing where it's not supposed to be - set by seed from last years garden. Tastes wonderful). But the chill is certainly in the air. ATB!
Frost already?! That's early isn't it? Well, here in Ireland I wish we could get some frosty weather now instead of the rainy and damp weather. Glad you managed to gather some of the gardens treasures. Enjoy the rest of your Saturday and stay warm. Hugs x
What will you do with the green tomatoes, Gail? Will you be able to preserve them? I do know fried green tomatoes are good, but are these the right kind for that? It looks like you got quite a harvest out of the garden still and I guess there's more to come. What an abundance! How fortunate you are.
The cold here did our tomatoes in. No more growing even though there are small green ones and blossoms. I don't know if I should pick the small green ones and add them to soup. I am making chicken soup today.
