I can't stop laughing at the kill switch comment, our hubby's were twins separated at birth.. love the finished cleaned pond and the photo of lis floating. that is one creative piece of digging equipment. good job to all of you

Men! I have heard many similar stories, but this is especially scary. I love blue herons! We have a few in this area, and we like to go out looking for them.
Ha. That is how my hubby loads his 'new' tractor on the trailer. He pushes down with the bucket as he goes forwards, and puts the front wheels on the trailer; then keeps driving forward.
Your pond looks good, Gail. I imagine great after it settles!
Oh, for a small bulldozer! Our neighbors are currently building a new, deep pond with a bulldozer. They keep deciding to go deeper....nary a rock in sight. That is unbelievable in the Ozarks.
The pond looks beautiful now. Do you have to do this often?
Your Hubby would never be happy just sitting, he loves to be out there doing things with you, and of course, being a boy, just has to take things one step over the danger line! Mine is the same way. I hope when the day comes that they pass, they will go smiling while doing something they love. In fact I wish that for us all!

The fabricator had to create a "slip" for mud digging

This is Hubby with an ICD (pacemaker/defibrillator) and he's not supposed to weld! He basically showed me the on/off switch and said, Don't watch but if I fall down, jerking, hit the kill switch!

The dam was broken and the pond drained to a lower level. I have shown some bank trimming and other things we have done.

Lis floated around pulling our limbs and cat tail stalks.

Didn't work as well as we wanted so back to the drawing board.

Dam was rebuilt.
Hubby lives to scare me...see the tractor tires off the ground?

So the pond filled with clearer banks, fewer reeds and limbs. We begin to restock the fish our wonderful Blue Heron loves to eat. We'll try again next summer. By then Hubby will have a new piece designed to remove the mud.

Having the FRONT tires off the ground is no problem. When the BACK ones raise, you MIGHT have a bit too much weight in the loader!
