A whole family! How fun. I'm a little mad at the resident deer herd here at the moment. I had a giant, and I mean GIANT, pot of impatience and coleus by the front door, woke up yesterday morning, and the deer had eaten them to nubs of stem. Now I know what the cat was meowing and nattering at in the window the night before.
of paying bills, doctor's visits and more typical August weather. Not much to make you smile.
Mother Nature knew I needed to smile and sent me four reasons right to my front door.

I had a mission but looked out the door and forgot it completely, rushed in and put the big honking lens on my camera. I'm tiptoeing as if the deer can hear me from inside. It was so the dogs would not know what I was seeing.
Last year's baby with velvet spike horns was grazing in the valley. I'm hoping the glass door is clean enough to see out. I'm being quiet so the dogs won't come running.

It was lunch time.
A beautiful sight to see.

Something put them on alert.

Mom sees something. I am telling the dogs to stay, shush but the deer have seen or heard one of us.

Don't run! I know this lady.
She's okay.
The dogs won't bother us.
Let's stay and eat a while.
This was the perfect gift for a hot summer evening.
