This is really creative and you got your juices flowing with this idea. I think gloves would get in the way - just be careful round those sharp barbs and.......have you had a tetanus shot lately just in case? That's a lotta work to get the nest done so nicely. H to M an ya all.
Ah you work like I do more than I should, I have lots of gloves but hate to bother with them, but in this case probably a good idea! Very neat work, and your idea for babies is sharply perfect!
oh stars, this is so wonderful. It's just not fair. You write, you create, you build, you tear down and build up. You are as I have told you many times.....a phenom. love your creative soul. look forward to the rusty, dusty and just my style birdies in the nest. So, so cool. xoxo Linda
Be careful of that old rusty wire, my friend. I remember my dad and brother stretching barbed wire on old posts to keep the cattle in, and it was then electrified. Interesting creation.
I love your wire art. You could open an Etsy shop. Very cool stuff. I look forward to seeing what else you make with it. Stock up for Winter, when you can't work outside. ☺
Oh, so cool. I am always running into bits of barbed wire out in the woods -- leftover from very old fences -- and I've never seen it as anything but a nuisance. Lovely to watch it turn into art.
Makes a good catch basket, too. Wonderful job, Gail. I bet you could design with anything leftover! Maybe you should learn whittling.. Hope you have a blessed day. ♥
Cool! Now get some gloves on girl! Those barbs will slice your fingers open.

In August I began a love affair with old barbed wire. I've continued playing with wire. There are several different kinds here. It's amazing when you think about it. These patents, these entrepreneurs, were instrumental in changing a way of life.

This was one of the ways (I'm not sure of the date) barbed wire was wound for sale. You bought it by the roll but I now sell it by the wreath.

I removed the old wire...I use every piece. A friend of mine shared an idea. I decided to try to run with it so this became my base.

As with most of my "creations" messy hands are happy hands.

You have to be careful. Not only are the barbs super sharp, tearing my skin, but when bending and wrapping things can be caught, in this case my finger. Ouch!

Can you see it?

It's going to be a bird's nest complete with babies.
A little more bird like weaving and I will call it complete.

Very creative!
Save your hands and wear gloves. Not that barbed wire can't poke through those as well.

That is genius. Looks like it could hurt though, be careful. But yeah, what a neat idea.

"...messy hands are happy hands." I love that. Yes, indeed!
What an incredibly creative thing to do with this wire that most people would discard. Very cool.
