Oh Gail, i have giggled my way through this post. Only you girl, could swing a tale like that and have everyone giggling. I feel for ya, with the itching and all, but then the laughter kicks in. Wear Yer Glasses. he,he Have a great day :)
Jewelweed Soap would fix you right up. Fabric softener sheets might be your culprit..the perfume in them makes us both itch..so we use unscented fab softener sheets. Could be food related too..never can tell. Have you had the Shingles shot? :)
I can't see anything without my glasses Gail so I've done similar things in the shower...so frustrating! You need some anti-itch cream. :) blessings, marlene
Oh noooooo!!! How very odd that you haven't changed anything, but are getting that reaction. I hope you get relief (without having to resort to caustic chemicals!)
Oh my gosh, I did the same thing not to me though, but to the dog. It was the oil you put in the food to help their skin. I thought it was to put on the outside, I dumped the whole bottle on the dog. It was like fancy olive oil. I washed and washed the dog. She didn't itch either. I have to take Primrose Oil for the same reason. As long as I take the capsules on the inside it helps the itching. If I miss a day, I am so miserable. I did sit here and laugh and laugh. :)
Oh my Gail you poor thing lol sorry your post made me giggle cause I can see it happening to me one day need glasses to read and for computer as well I am blind as a bat with out them lol . I have had a swollen foot for a month , had tests done x-ray and ultra sound they said the tests were negative for what they were looking for then they told me there is some swelling well DUH! thats why I went to them I said to them and they still dont know what it is going back on Fri . I think I have either got a bug bite or some plant juice poison I have never had that before it did itch and has a small dry rash but I put good old Penanten cream on it for a few days and the itch is gone but the foot still swells ! I hope you get relief from it all ! Have a good day !
Oh stars, you are a riot. Poor dear lady. I agree with some of the other advisors in their treatment choices. Oatmeal bath, Aveno even makes a lotion with oatmeal in it (I use it on Ry), cider vinegar wash on the affected area, and if it is contact dermitytis a bendryl. Bless your heart, wear your glasses dear lady. I am so sorry for your foul up on the shower, I have done something similar myself and we heed to wear our glasses...... ooooops, Oma Linda
Oh no, you poor thing. The itching can be a pain in the you know what!!!! My suggestion is to use aloe vera 100%, it will help moisturize and stop the itching. I use it because I get this rash when I stress out and it relieves the itchiness and cools me down. I picked up a bottle of Fruit of the Earth's Aloe Vera 100% pure gel at Walmart it costs about $3.40 a 12 ounce bottle. (you can get this in most stores). When you apply it, it will be a little sticky but then it will dry and feel good. Just a thought......
I can imagine where that stuff ended up and how much it burned. Poor you! As to the itch, I can recommend Aloe Vera too, it is wonderful stuff. The purer you can get it, the better. I hope your tender parts recuperate soon, xox
Oh dear! Being itchy is never good. I'm terrified of using new laundry soaps. Once I used Tide and I broke out in a horrid rash. I try to use non scented laundry soaps and fabric softners.
That is awful. I can just imagine the burn! Yowzer!
I hate to laugh at your misfortune, but it IS funny.
I have had the case of the itches for a year now. A rash that comes and goes. Don't know what it is; even a dermatologist scratched his head. It's driving me crazy!
Oh Gail--I can relate. I've been itching since winter. Every time I go in the garden I get eaten alive. And we sprayed! Chiggers are the culprits here. I'm thinking there are fleas too, although the indoor cats don't have them.
Somebody on Facebook gave me a great remedy. Treat the itches with a cold compress--ice pack even. Then put rubbing alcohol on. It actually works, though repeated applications are necessary.
Another person once told me to get Fels-Naptha soap. Wash the affected area with it. It really does take the itch out, but again, repeated applications are necessary.
As to your foot potion--OMG--no need to worry about the itching because burning trumps itches.
At any rate, you poor lady.

and I've been scratchin'...a lot. Can't find any varmints biting me, haven't changed any washing products, no changes that I know. I'm not so blind I can't see a chigger or a tick either...with my glasses of course. I even asked a friend if I had the shingles and she assured me I would KNOW if I had them. I'm an expert on recognizing poison oak since it is a long time friend of mine.
Can't go the doctor because there is no relief at work. When Hubby had his surgery I got two days off by borrowing two different people. It's like playing chess, gotta know how to move around those helpers.
Anyway back to my itching story...I have tried just scratching...with a hair brush, with my nails, with a back scratcher...nothing stopped it. Then I would put lotion all over. Soothing for a short time. So I started using lavender oil and that seemed to help. Slather up at bedtime then wash off in the morning.
I had a better idea. I had a set of Lavender products so there was a wash. Okay, I thought it was a wash. I don't shower with my glasses. I'm singing and slathering this stuff every where on me in the shower...then it starts to burn...in the tender places...oh, my goodness, did it burn!!!! I rinsed and rinsed and rinsed and was still burning in certain areas that had not even had a direct application. I was a victim of run-off. Through the crags and valleys of this ole body, water runs to the lowest spot.
When almost every thing stopped burning I toweled dry(no pictures). Then I made the report to Hubby. He laughed. I laughed and said it felt like what I imagine Ben Gay would feel like in your underwear.
THEN I GOT MY GLASSES. It said, "Invigorating, refreshing foot massage potion. Do not use on over-dry or tender feet". Well, it didn't hurt my feet and I do seem to be itching less today.

Nicely written. Sorry about the itching though. Do you take any medications that might have itching as a side effect? Just a thought.

I laughed and giggled reading the story but not at you "itchin!".
Itchin' and "having the itch" are two different scenarios aren't they . . .
I hope you find the cause. (stress?)
Thanks for the giggles. I think wearing your glasses at all times will be important for YOU to remember!

funny lady! thanks for the laugh at your expense!

I went through a spell of itching when I started losing weight. I still don't know what the true cause was, but it was just awful- so I feel for ya!

Oh, Gail,
Read the fine print.
Now I'm scratching and don't know why. Power of suggestion maybe?

Bless your heart. Have you tried an oatmeal bath to relieve the itching? It works for chicken pox, hopefully it will work for your itching.

At a certain point, we must bow to the power of sight. Without such sight, we make grave errors.
So all you need was an alphahydroxy acid?

PS. Just thought I'd mention that coconut oil is really good for itching...and a little more soothing than your last application!
