Oh, just look at those cannas... The canna is one of my favorites, I plant the Giant cannas, last year, I lost all my bulbs while trying to winter them over (the bulbs turned to mush. Trying something different this year, brought the whole plant inside. I sure hope it works!
It looks so much warmer in your neck of the woods, we are feeling that fall weather here, rain all day tomorrow... Yuck.
HI, Gail; this is my first visit to your lovely property and I felt right at home. For, even though I live in a small apartment in a rural town I love the farm life as you can tell by the title of my blog site...mainly memories and humorous happenings
I had never heard the term "hangers" before. Not something we have here. They do look dangerous. Do you have someone go up and get them down before they fall? The Cannas are nice.
Your valley looks beautiful. I wonder if you can still see that the way we do when we see your photos of it? You are a privileged woman in a lot of ways.
Oooh! Pretty Cannas! We had cannas at our home in SC. I don't think they grow well here, though :(
So why are they called Hangers?

The valley over cannas

These are called "hangers". These limbs were a danger during the ice storm and are still a danger when the wind blows. A sheriff was skilled somewhere in Arkansas from a "hanger" while helping people during the storm.

Another view from my yard over the dark cannas.

Such a lovely view. Hangers can be a real problem as we found out during last years terrible ice storm.

Pretty blue sky and nice fall foliage. I've never heard of "hangars" before. My lesson for today.

We have several hangers in the trees here in the country. Also a big one wedged into the sweet gum by last years hurricane.
