I love these "after dark" poems and things that go bump in the night. That last shot is really quite excellent - all kinds of darkness, branches and lurking moon. H to M, n y'all. L
Seriously, if you don't put together a book of Arkansas verse, research who publishes these things, write your query letters and submit, then I may hurt you. :)
So very true, indeed! It's the same haunting feelings I have out with my pups before we go to bed. I just carried away the remains of a poor little bunny that didn't make it through the clutches of something evil that was afoot throughout the evening.
Nothing will terrify us more than the demons that burst out of our minds--we know what they can do. And the fact (accepted or not) that we were the ones to whisper everything they know into their ear, makes the whole affair even scarier.

so true and my fear of the dark is in my head and so are many of my other fears, but have yet to figure out how to get them out of my head.

Great thoughts today on creating fear in our heads. I'm a bit of a worrier, and that gets me in soooo much trouble.

That had a great rhythm to it. Yeah, it's usually in our heads.
But what if it's not...?

so very true (that's why i don't watch scary movies - spend too much time out here alone and even in the dark.) :)

Nothing is as scary as what we can imagine in the middle of the night. Great read.

That is very true!

I wish I believed this instead of what is in my own head. :)
Loved the playfulness here, mocking too-human folly.

you were spot on in the idea that most of our fears are things we've created in our heads!
awesome write.

Truly. Fear of the unknown and a great imagination leads to such. Funny how we easily think of the worst things that can happen. :)

A lovely blend of mystery and truth.
