This poem was really nice. It reminded me of a song on a record my parents used to play for me and my siblings to help us get to sleep. The song was from a poem by Robert Louis Stephenson, and started almost the same way. Wonderful memories. Thanks!

I just looked it up, and found those are the exact words in the first line. The poem is called "The Swing."

Hi Gail ~~ Nice poem. It reminds me of swinging, most all of us Tave done that. I swang(!!) a couple of days ago when I took the granddaughter to the playground.

There was a boy in the sixth grade who was swinging with his friends. They would all go high and jump out. This boy fell wrong and broke his arm. He missed some of his reading practice with Adi (our beagle dog, a reading therapy dog) but still got back soon enough so he could catch up and pass his state reading test.

Such a pretty tribute to swinging, which growing up was one of my favorite things to do. Still do too!

til nothing looks the same...that is what swinging does...it changes our perspective...even when we are just sitting on one...love the little pondering of the ant...i think there is something there you know...

You described exactly what it is like for me to sit on a swing, which is something I have not done in too long a time. I must find a reason to do so and get away with it. Thank you for sharing that poem.
