smiles...Hoss' frame...ha. ah i grew up watching old westerns at my grandpaws....butch cassidy and the sundance kid...gunsmoke...gosh i cant remember all the names...i need to think on that a bit...
Ha, my heroes were always cowboys too. Loved Bonanza as well.. I admire anyone who can ride a horse well...always wanted a horse too. You're living my childhood dream. Glad to see you in Poetry Jam!
Excellent, i have lived in England all my life, but i love westerns and cowboys. Give me a clint eastwood movie any day. I am also fascinated with Jesse James and the Bushwhackers. I loved the poem great take on the prompt.
I miss having horses but am blessed to be able to be around them again thanks to joining up with a wonderful group of people in our Evergreen saddle club. I used to ride either English or Western even bare back lol ! I love cowboy hats and boots and still wear them when we go to our club ! Awesome photos looking good . Thanks for sharing ! Have a good day !
My Aunt Dot who just died a few months ago was crazy about cowboy films too and musicals. I must have been the only 3 year old who knew all the words to Annie get your gun with Doris Day, LOL. Thanks for your comment today, she is slowly getting used to her medicine and her appetite is picking up. Lynne x
I grew up on old western movies ... my heroes were all found there too. My dad was my cowboy super hero ,when he passed a few years back we all picked songs to be played that were special to us and him for his funeral and I picked Cowgirls Don't Cry. Oh you definitely made me smile , love your super hero outfit in that first photo !!!
I think that's a great photo of you in your underpants catching that horse. Like a true cowboy, you have no fear of embarrassment, but are intent on the job.
You came close to barebutt riding, something we men would never do; even bareback riding is rough on the groin; backbones hurt. Superheroes are where you find them, and shoveling out horse stalls is as good a place as any; been a Western freak forever; books, movies, TV and really dig the rodeo, in person and on film, like JUNIOR BONNER, THE MISFITS, THE LUSTY MEN, J.R, COOP, THE HONKERS.
ha,ha Hoss was always my favourite - just a nice guy - just the way he was raised - loved that show - I'll trade you a fisherman for a cowboy OK Thanks for the giggle early this morning. Have a great day and hello to TM, Andrew n hugs to Marcy.
Gail, this is wonderful! I have always loved cowboys and that is one of my favorite songs--thank you for the laugh--and you are my hero for still riding, give those beautiful babies a carrot for me :-)
Loved the reference to "Bonanza"! A great old show and a great new poem!

"My heroes have always been cowboys.
And they still are, it seems.
Sadly, in search of, but one step (not my link) in back of,
Themselves and their slow-movin' dreams".

My super heroes
Wore boots and six-guns
Strapped on their hips
In a time when good
Always won
And the good guys
Wore white hats
I always wanted
To be a Cartwright
To do good
And "save the day"
The closest I came
Was growing Hoss's frame
My weight made horses sway
That's the best I could do, Brian. Do boots and underwear count as a costume??? Join Poetry Jam for some enjoyable reading and throw some writing in there too.
