Practice, practice, practice - that is what it is all about and you've got 8gb to play with, so you could easily take thousands of photos and keep playing. Now I am wondering Gail, do you have time to learn to drive this new toy - play, test, all angles and just have fun - your photos are quite good for your first shots. Have a great day.

I'm so glad you are testing the new camera for us. I have been contemplating getting one but am dreading the learning curve. I too used to know how & used a 35mm & loved it. I think you already have the hang of it, lovely photos.

p.s. Thanks for the link, made me laugh.

What a lovely big camera. I know the time has come that I need to move up into the big boy world but I keep putting it off. I will watch you make the transition first. :) So far so good with your photos I think. :)

Gail,

Your doing a great job taking pictures with your new camera.
Now you need to give your camera a name like Buttons did, she named her camera LEO.

I know how you feel. I have put off getting a "bigger, better" camera for a few years now. I use my outdated point and shoot for everything. I'm just afraid I won't be able to master the "big boy" when I make the leap!

I like the shots you have taken. Seeing the pie cherries has made me hungry for cherry pie!

Have fun and practice, practice, practice...you know what they say about that. =)

You'll be fine with that camera. I have a Cannon EOS REBEL XS that I use. Yours is probably a later version of mine as it looks identical. You will love that long lens also,I do mine. I've had mine for several years and am slowly learning some of the manual settings on it.
