Beautiful post and images. A very inspiring outing on this rather nice summer day (less stifling heat and a lovely breeze in the my neck of the woods). Many thanks
I have a small collection of arrowheads, but my favorite finds are fossils from a nearby limestone site. Very cool! Isn't it weird how after a good rain the arrowheads seem to have been dropped on the ground, just waiting to be found?
so is this what you were picking up outside the restroom on vacation? did these come home in your pockets? or were these found treasures in your own yard.
It stormed here this morning, all kinds of rain (weatherman stated 5 inches of rain in 1 hour). Rain, thunder that rocked the house, lightning bad, winds possibly up to 60 mph).
I love finds like this....mine come from just toe digging while the grands are off adventuring when we travel the state. Good finds, I'd say. Oma Linda
On my Dad's property, there was a place like that so that after a rain you could go collect arrowheads and things like that. I was always amazed at the things that he found. Those things are awesome.
I love a good mystery! Makes you wonder about the people that used it! Very cool find!

Rain brings life with it

and reveals past life

A pottery shard with other artifacts

The rim of the broken pot shard is smooth and formed
while the inside indicates heat
Could it be an old fire pot
or simply a cooking pot forgotten?
We can only guess.

You found that in your yard? That is just amazing! You could take it to a local museum and have them look at the pieces.

Gail,
I love finding artifacts after a storm.
What will you do with your findings?

When I find bits like these I wonder about the lives of those who used them..the history of everyday life that is often lost. Wonderful Find!!!

It's interesting to see what shows up after a hard rain. Sometimes nothing and sometimes lots of wonderful things to ponder.
Have a terrific day. ☺

Fascinating, I wonder if it is from when the Native Americans lived many years ago?

All I find after a rain is mud puddles and grass that has grown 3 inches.
Wonderful bits of the past, Gail. :-)

What fun. I find it entertaining to imagine the lives of the people who handled the items I find.

Dang, how cool is that? The only thing we've found after heavy rains at the farm are snakes, and grass that needs to be mowed, LOL.
Really cool, save them and enjoy the story that might have gone along with them. Very neat!
