Still praying Gail. Here in Louisiana where we are now we've had lots of rain the last couple of days. Wish I could send some of it home! blessings, marlene
haha...hay envy...all pretty much dead here as well...we did get some rain last night which was great...hey i went a little dark myself for you this week...smiles...
Nice to meet you. I am only a small homesteader, with light horses and a few rabbits, ducks and other small crew. Do love all the hard work and memories.( Not able to breath around hay much any more.) We are pretty dry up here but not parched yet- our garden is still OK.
After a few days of fairly decent downpours, we are back into summer heat n wind. Enjoyed your pastel of the farm and cute poem. Hope it rains for you SOON.
I enjoyed your sentiments, Gail. We are dry and hot here in southern Ontario, Canada too. Rainless and dry. I think we need a rain dance. Thank you for sharing. =D

Chilmark Hay, 1951 by Thomas Hart Benton
Once again,
I am stumped
The picture's real
I'm in a slump.
Farmer John has hay
And green grass galore
We have nothing
Just dead grass and spores.
I guess I'm suffering
From hay envy now.
Can't cut, can't rake
Can't even plow.
Cattle auctions are full
Selling into the night
Trailers lined up
Far outta sight.
Trying not to fail
Survival mode in place
This county is going to...well,
Pray for rain and say Grace.

Still wishing for rain for you.
I love Thomas Hart Benton's art. I have a beautiful print of his somewhere--I think hanging at Rachel's house.

Hate to say it, but I wish I could afford some of these cattle being sold off.
Have a great week and hope you get more rain!

I sense the farmers' hard life during weather that is too hot and too dry. Where I am we've had rain and more rain for a whole week.
