I think a visit to see the joy and smiles on the faces of those children will help you know in your heart that you did the right thing. The sting of missing your sweet dolls will still be there for a long while, but they are just a drive away for you hug and love.

Ok, now you've got me sitting here crying too. I can't imagine ever being as giving as you. I'm way to selfish. I'm sure your beauties will thrive from all the attention and the kids will thrive from being with them. How absolutely fabulous to be a world changer- That's what you are.
I just read yesterday's post and todays all in one swoop and I have leaky eyes for you. You have done a wonderful thing, and I wish it didn't come with pain, but that is usually the case with wonderful things.
I don't much speak of this, but one of the many approaches we tried to get our autistic daughter to socially engage was therapeutic horseback riding. She was so little and young that I rode with her. I don't know what she got out of it, because it certainly didn't make much of a difference in her behavior, but I, the one providing all of that exhausting care, always left the stables feeling renewed. it was like spending 2 hours with a therapist.
So I thank you, Gail, from the bottom of my heart for this very generous gift. I know for a fact that ultimately, your gift will somehow make a difference in someone's life and not always in an expected way.
To piggyback on Rudee's comment... I see miracles happen with horses while volunteering at therapeutic riding programs weekly. The horses provide therapy to the volunteers as well! As they say, the outside of a horse is good for the inside of a person, and your horses will bring so much to so many. God Bless you! We have a wonderful new year with who knows what adventures right around the corner!

Gail, I am catching on post, so I had to back-track. I know for sure this was terrily hard, but what a realist and unselfish person you are for sharing these gentle creatures with these youth. It's not every horse that gets accepted to have the opportunity to work with children. Only one of my 3 might ever get that chance. So, it speaks to the good love you gave them that they will be greated each day with a big smile, a leg up, and a pat on the neck. Take a bag of carrots and visit ofen. You're a great gal for sharing.

[Image]I thank you for your kind words and thoughts about my previous post. It was something, as painful as it was, that I seemed compelled to do, be it attributed to a crazy mind or a big heart, it was difficult. It was not something I did lightly. There's were months of thought, gallons of tears, and much research that went into this decision. It was not for me. It was for my beauties, my dolls, my horses, that I made this decision, and for the children that will be touched by their presence, guided by their gentleness, and loved by my big babies.
The equine director was grateful for the gift since they had more children than mounts. He was impressed with their beauty, their skills and their gentleness. I have an open invitation to visit any time.
I was not here when they left...I could not handle that, it is even difficult now to write about it. I still cry. I apologize for not answering each kind and supportive comment individually. I want to thank each and every one for your prayers, your kind words, and your support. It only enforced my belief that blogdom is full of kind people and dear friends...thank you from the bottom of my heart.
The thought came to me in my emptiness that there would be no more At The Farm or Familiar Spirit but there is still a farm with many animals and livestock and much living to share.
