These are really nice shots! I once watched a caterpillar crawl all the way up to the top of my bird bath, take a few sips of water, and then crawl all the way back down. It was one of the most interesting things I'd ever seen!
I too have watched them in the yard. I watched one, one evening as the sun was setting, crawl up the clothesline pole, get to the top and when the sun set, it crawled back down. I guess the caterpillar wanted to watch the sun set, as I did....:)

he/she is a beauty... i stepped on a black one of these about 60 years ago and still remember the sting. have not seen one this color

They really are not driven by an inner clock to rush around like we are. They seem to appreciate their time, short though it may be.
