You're not selfish! You have a zillion things going on with getting settled, not to mention the ASP trauma.

I'm afraid you're right about: "Which is more than anyone in Washington can say." I'm so ashamed of this administration, but I think Bush's days are numbered. People are FURIOUS with him. Hey, welcome to our world, right?

Congrats again on your move! Your new home is lovely.

I know - about damned time. I need to take a bit of a break - I've been crying for days. I can't even write anything intelligent about this situation. But I can't help but think that while the hurricane was nature's doing, the pathetic response is the culmination of years of selfishness and shortsightedness. This is what you voted for, righties.

Reading about your new home and how happy you are is definitely an upper :)

I'm sorry you've been so down. It's a terrible situation - almost surreal.

It feels weird to be so happy while others are suffering so much. But then, I always feel that way about my own happiness - it's always just a bit tinged with guilt, as if I don't quite deserve it. You might know what I mean.

Hey, it beats the extreme selfishness that runs rampant within US borders.

Hey, I totally know what you mean. Some call it liberal guilt, but I prefer to think of it as empathy. You clearly have it in spades.

Yeah! Bet he doesn't get re-elected! :)

Ever notice this revealing stuff always happens AFTER an election, never before (Watergate notwithstanding... WTF happened there?)... and in fairness to Rob, I'll include the sponsorship scandal. These things always seem to happen once an elected official is safely back in office, with years to go before the next election. God's little joke, I guess.

But even with Watergate, Nixon got re-elected in 1972. It wasn't until after the election that the really damaging stuff came out.

Good word, that. Think Outside The Self.

And with a special assist from the corporate media, plus the American public's famously short-short-term memory, there's never any real danger of serious political fallout.

Think Outside The Self? Love it!

God's little joke, I guess. That would be Bush. And that would be Satan's little joke. Wouldn't it be too funny if all of that fire and brimstone stuff is true? And if the joke's on him? Hell, I'll light the first match.
