Mean Mr. Mustard and I had the following discussion this morning (paraphrased)...

Me: "Our governor seems pretty crabby about that whole story about future elections influencing his politics."
Mr. Mustard: "Is he saying we're not people?"
Me: "I think when he says "we" he means Republicans."
Mr. Mustard: "Republicans aren't people?"

Note that our Governor implied this, not us.
