As one of those "too old or infirm for front-line service" (dying, actually; Doctors don't give me 10 more years), it is heartening to see that I can still be useful. My FNAR is definitely not a proper infantry weapon. But it could still be useful to defend hearth and home; kith and kin. Being a .30 cal (and with a larger cartridge casing than the .30 cal in the M1 carbine) it can reach out and stop my enemies at a good range and do much more damage than 5.56. Semi-auto is more useful for defense than in attack so my rifle not being select fire is no handicap.
I don't expect I would survive the sort of injuries the redoubtable Mr. Whittemore received. But I could certainly go down fighting. Being already under a death sentence (and considering that the death I am looking at is a particularly unpleasant way to go) I have nothing to lose. As the poet put it "A man with nothing more to lose becomes a most unassailable weapon."

You got to love the way guys like Nadler use that "legitimate violence" term. He better pray that we don't get forced into that legitimate violence position ourselves because a legitimate length of rope would make a legitimate neck-tie for this would-be dictator. And if he's such a legitimate tough-guy, then let him come grab the People's weapons himself.

Interesting to note that assholes like Nadler consider it to be 'legitimate violence' when it's done by government thugs and wannabes, but it's 'domestic terrorism' when it's done by citizens and patriots.
BadCyborg- Yes. Great quote from a poet alright. Absolutely true

A secession, actually.
Nothing wrong with an FNAR. I've got one myself, and it is amazingly accurate.
