That is one bet they will lose!

The saddest part of this Aurora incident is that almost everyone just sort of shrugs and says how they can't understand why these folks are so dogmatic.

And the new administration's chief of staff talking about the legal standard for disarmament should provide further context for these measures:

"They certainly betting a lot on our good humor, aren't they?:

Straightarrow - you are not the only one whose sense of humor has already worn too thin. Mine is about as thin as a tripwire.

Dr. D - if you can get anything goin and wish to contact the family, post something to let us know. I'll go for ten, too.

The only way we are going to stop this BS is to make the politicians etc FEAR us. The cause of the FEAR can be many things. Get these dips back to being our servants and let us take our place as their masters

They fear us, all right. Though I haven't seen it personally, a friend of mine mentioned to me today that the "stimulus" bill (porkulus is more accurate) has funds for FEMA to build camps on military bases. Oh, they don't call them "camps," but we all know what they are - those things are being constructed NOT to house refugees from a natural or a man-made (i.e. terrorist) disaster (though they may use them in that manner once or twice to make anyone suspicious of them look paranoid), but for surviving resisters in the event that martial law is declared. Why on a military base, if not for that purpose?

A more central question is "why martial law?" My answer is that the economic situation is such that you may end up with riots all over the country if the economy (or even just the dollar) collapses. To restore order, limited martial law would be declared in some cities. OK, most cities where there's likely to be a lot of trouble are full of anti-gun liberals, and they'll be disarmed to begin with. That's not the problem (from the government's perspective) - it is those who will treat the limited declaration of martial law the same way an artillery crew treats the firing of a flare - as THE signal to start shooting.

Yeah, maybe I'm delusional. But at least I'm not the one who brought up a civilian paramilitary unit "equal in strength to the army," who asked for these camps to be built, who used to hang around with a guy who thought nothing of killing 25 million Americans to impose a "progressive" system on this country and who, oh so conveniently, is the POTUS. I'll tell you, if he's not trying to set himself up as dictator for life, he's sure doing a great job of acting like it.

Nothing to see here, move along!

Re Betsy Ramsdale: To deter employers from viewing social networking pages, employees might post on their pages legal terms of service under which employers agree to scram. This idea should not be taken as legal advice for any particular situation, just a topic for public discussion. --Ben
