That story came across another blog yesterday afternoon.

I knew this place would be on it quickly.

Good work and I've already spread it elsewhere.

The rotting corpse was found on Sept 12, and therefore Glenn Beck's 9-12 protest is to blame.

Them bodies sure as hell rot fast up in the hills.

How would Beck's 9-12 protest have "inspired" a killing that discovered the same day and had to have been done a good number of days before for the body to have decomposed too much for a casket burial?

They don't just have a problem with reasoning, they have a problem with rudimentary cause and effect.

If it wasn't a pot patch Sparkman stumbled across, it was surely a meth lab. Lest all the handwringers forget, "fed" can also be "ATF" or revenuers.

As to hating the government, what a crock. Too many of the people in that part of KY are "on the draw" or Federally-supported welfare. In some of those SE KY counties, you are seeing a multi-generational welfare culture where kids "aspire" to be "on the draw" when they up. The only difference from the inner city is that these folks are lily white.

My wife has family in that area and even the locals stay the hell out of certain areas of the Daniel Boone National Forest.
This isn't anything new.
from 2000- http://cannabisnews.com/news/5/thread5729.shtml

2007- http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/2007-09-30-kentucky_N.htm

I would think that the Meth Heads are probably working up in there too and those types are paranoid as hell.
That and there's a lot of "Copperhead Road" thinking in that area.
Damn shame. I feel bad for this guy and his family. Bigger shame that the left is already trying to exploit this for political gain.

So your saying there is a place I can go with little to no FEDGOV oversight?

Screw the Free State Project, I'm moving to Kentucky!

Well... I must be honest. When I listen to Glenn Beck, a thrill runs up my leg and I squeal like 14 year old at a Beatles concert, and suddenly my mind goes blank except for the desire to go assassinate a gay mayor in California, or failing that, to hang someone I don't know.
It's not MY fault, it's that hideous Glenn Beck... he speaks to me through my neighbor's bulldog....Sam... he overpowers my senses...
my only defense is trying to force my mind to visualize an image of Helen Thomas seducing Janet Garufalo.... then the gag-reflex brings me out of the trance....

Did anyone consider that this could've been a regular, ordinary murder, not even connected with drugs, let alone the victim's profession, and the murderer was just a little smarter than a box of rocks...leading him/her to look for a way to lead the figurative bloodhounds down the wrong trail? Maybe he owed someone money, maybe he was caught with someone's wife, maybe it was an accident that someone tried to cover up, and maybe he was mistaken for someone else.

All of these, plus the drug angle, plus the "right-wing extremist pissed at the .gov" are possible - and until someone finds other information that hasn't been released to the public, any speculation is just that - speculation (and not particularly well-informed, at that).

The anti-gun media can rot in Hell.

Great job reporting, Mike.
The lefty-loonies are grasping at straws to make conservative Americans look bad every chance they get, even if they have to fabricate lies, and bend the truth.
But then that's what they're best at, and even if the real killer is found out to be a drug producer, they'll try and spin that. too.

On the English-language radio stations of Portland Oregon metro, this killing was reported as "a suicide or homicide" as if a person would write or carve the letters F E D on their body and hang themselves.

The slightest background check of the victim would indicate that he had a strong will to live and get stuff done.

I sympathize with anyone doing 2010 rural Census Enumerator work.

I did that job in 1990 around Olympia WA, and made a point of telling everyone at the door that there was only one question to answer, which is "how many people live at this address?".

I explained that this question is the only one that the United States Constitution mandates and that it's for the purpose of determining how many Congressional Representatives get sent to Washington DC by this State.

If they would like to chat some more I have lots more questions and that some of them are a little bit invasive and might be considered too personal. Almost everyone told me how many people lived at the address and almost no one would go through the "long form" (which saved me a ton of time!).

Da Weed Man doesn't frighten me, but it does appear that 4 persons live at this residence (and the form will be so marked). Thank you so much.

Do these people have working radios? Computers for webcast?

Cheers.

Two thought for your consideration.

1. Beck continually on his shows calls for cool heads and no violence. No Ft. Sumpters if you will.

2. While this incident by itself I feel is insufficient to trigger a massive govt. reaction, who knows what may happen as the census approaches and more and more people feel their rights and privacy are being infringed upon. If the govt. percieves a threat to their bean counters they may decide a crack down is in order.

"Beck .. is nevertheless guilty of screaming "fire" in a crowded theater. "

Anyone who thus misquotes Holmes in Schenk v. US loses all credibility...and there are many who do. It's "FALSELY crying fire in a crowded theater". Presumably telling the truth about the fire is a good thing. And in Schenk, "falsely crying fire" was publishing pamphlets explaining that the military draft is a violation of the 13th Amendment...which it bloody well is.

Latest reports say the previous story may have been BS and this may have been a suicide.

Don't expect any apologies from PP.

Yeesh, they've been killing revenooers in those parts for probably two centuries. First it was booze, then pot, and meth. Leave it to the damn media to make it something it isn't.

Can anyone say False Flag coming?

I thought you could :)

a cancer patient poking around in pot country? you don't say. now that it's more widely circulated than ever before that suffering from cancer and cancer's treatments can be alleviated with marijuana, i cannot say i am terribly surprised.

but if it's a place where even cops are afraid to tread, what was he doing out there alone? you'd have to be pretty desparate, pretty close to death, which kind of hampers the idea of such an excursion.

"cancer patient, having a moderately good day, leaves hospital after chemo, hops in pickup, drives off into woods to buy pot. stops every 35 minutes to vomit. leaves vehicle, we lose him for a few hours to a day, ends up hanging from this tree."

i think somebody knew somebody and owed them something.

It's a shame when any life is wasted by working with or for government at any level. The death was only the culmination of the waste.

Evil men (and women) always find it convenient to blame their enemies for their own evil. Makes it so much easier to convince the unthinking masses that they are the "good guys" while they slowly "boil the frog". Luckily the internet has leveled the playing field a bit in this regard. Great post and good work!
