Wonderful work on that iconic piece of kit! The sculpts are excellent, but it is your painting and basing that really makes this a superb little vignette. But it’s definitely one more reminder of how bad tactics often will be a short cut to defeat.

Hi there ,

It is not a Reffye "mitrailleuse " or rather a Reffye "canon à balles", as the French called them, but a "mitrailleuse of Montigny" of the Belgian army put into service in 1863.

It is the ancestor of the Reffye "canon à balles", the sculptor of Wargames Foundry was mistaken ...

The Reffye "canon à balles" was later an adaptation of the "mitrailleuse of Montigny", but it is very different ...
