This was an awesome post. I am so glad that I could inspire you to write it.

It totally hit home with me when you said that you were a good babysitter. That was me too. I thought that parenting was going to be easy and just like babysitting. I was good with kids, they liked me so I was going to be a great mom.

Being a mother is nothing like I thought it would be. It is better in some way but it is also worse in some ways.

I guess in my babbling, I am just trying to say that I understand what you are saying and I can SO relate. :)

I got your comments, thanks! I was suspicious that you might be able to relate. :)

P.S. I don't think you were babbling and I should know because I'm the Queen of Babbling!

heather you're being too hard on yourself. you're a great mom. but i understand what you're talking about. i did (and continue) to obsess on what kind of a mother i was to you and your brothers. you all turned out marvelously well. so the message to me here is that even though you all didn't come with a set of user instructions you did come well constructed and unbelievably durable. point is...the love, desire to do a good job, and even part tune (it's ok to tune them out at times) parenting seems to be enough to turn out a kid into a very good adult indeed. that's just the way i see it anyway. i love you kiddo. i'm proud of the mother you are and the oh so many other things....

hey i'm watching nanny 911. if you think you're not a good mom watch a few episodes of that. there are some folks who should just NOT be parents. they are disasters and their kids just don't stand any chance at all.

The mom in me totally understands what you the mom are saying, but I've got to tell you that,Yep, you were an awesome babysitter (how many sitters would sleep out in the yard with the little girls in a miniature tent so tiny her feet had to stick out the door wrapped in a garbage bag against the dew and possible rain?) And you are a great mom--I can tell because your kids are a joy to be around. I only regret I don't get to do it very often! Love You!
