amen, julie! i wish i could see more photos of people's real life online, instead of so many composed picture-perfect settings. more messy kitchens, less artistically-arranged crumbs!
Now that is a picture I can fully relate to. This is the picture of real life and not an photograph of living in this perfect home and being the even more than perfect person to have this magazine-add-perfect kitchen.
Careful what you wish for. There's some really nasty, smelly, buggy, moldy, cluttered, rat dancing, mystery stained, gross out, off kilter, seven full trash cans, broken plumbing, cigarettes inside beer bottles, ant picnic, Mr. Ugh is happy, where's the cat box, bat cave scary kitchens out there.
This is a beautiful photo of "reality!!" I used to love to visit all of the perfectly staged blogs but I realized that they were making me feel totally inadequate. : ) I still visit them on occasion but would rather see that my life is the norm. My life with four kids, three cats and two dogs!!! Not all white couches and no clutter and floors you can eat off of. Definitely not my reality!!
Give me your Kitchen Aid mixer. Also, I see a package for something that has wheat in there and I started melting away... did you put a filter on this photo? Love love love as always. <3
flickr and the blogosphere are full of empty plates with achingly artistically-arranged crumbs photographed in cafés flooded with perfect light. but real life is something else...it's a photo of the day left 'til well after dark in the artificial yellow light of a drab kitchen where a busy family dashed in and out, grabbing something to eat and leaving behind not-so-artfully-arranged crumbs. and milk cartons and open boxes of crackers. and a wadded up piece of cheesecloth stained crimson by elderberries. sometimes i miss reality in cyberspace.

High five to real life. I always wonder if the perfectly clean and tidy kitchens of so many Flickr photos even actually exist.
And I LOVE your quilt!
