Dara Torres, the swimmer who in her early 40s won a couple medals at the Olympic Games, explained that devoting almost as much time to stretching as she did to swimming and working out was key to her success. Never underestimate the power of your flexibility. I hope to reach old age with minimal creaks, like Maia!

A Mothers birthday is a special moment for a daughter I think. Her life creates our own, her experiences become part of our own, and her longevity becomes a mirror for future. Thank you for sharing this little video, what an amazing lady. My own dear Mum is 94. She is still independent, sustained by my dear devoted sister, and still making plans while dealing with the effects of aging. Happy Birthday to Julie's Mum!
"Shot in Fire Island, New York, this film (4min. 23 sec) captures the secrets of eternal youth as Maia Helles, a Russian ballet dancer turns 95 but still remains resolutely independent, healthy and as fit as a forty year old. Made by Julia Warr, artist and film maker met Maia on a plane 4 years ago and became utterly convinced by the benefits of her daily exercise routine, which Maia perfected, together with her Mother, over 60 years ago, long before exercise classes were ever invented. (2011)"
