Did you grow these artichokes yourself? That is so amazing! I would love to do more gardening, but for the presence of hay fever and the lack of a garden I conclude it's not meant to be right now :)
I got the spreadsheet idea because my little sister kept being inquisitive about how much I own or bought. I don't mean to show it to her, but I'm glad to know about it myself now!
thank you, sammi! (i was thinking no one noticed my bacon joke.) yes, we WILL get pigs for their bacon. perhaps already this autumn! husband is working on their chateau as we "speak." :-)
This is the second post of a bowl of apples I've seen today! Gonna have to go back east next week to have some real cider! Oh and bacon mmmm, had my first bacon in over 5 months today. 'twas good I say. xoxo Kim
poet - we did grow these artichokes ourselves! (weird, i swear i posted this answer earlier, but it's not here.) they're easy...they are perennials, so they grow back every year and all they really require is a bit of horse poo! i tell you, that stuff is a miracle cure.

it feels like all of that work in the garden is starting to pay off at last.
the weekend brought the first test of the cider press (more about that tomorrow over here - i have 138 photos to sort before i can write) and meals consisting of nearly only things from the garden (reminder to self: must plant a bacon plant next year).
it also brought spontaneous guests, deep philosophical conversations about the meaning of life and two more wine balloons bought for a song on den blå avis (our version of craig's list). it brought a bunny photo shoot and phrases to memorize the dressage arena (A Fat Black Mama Cat Has Eight Kittens). it brought a walk in the woods looking for mushrooms.
it also brought a run-in with a nasty, mean hawthorne branch (lest you think it was all fabulousness). but mostly, there was a lot of laughter, relaxing and enjoying being together, even while we did mundane things like clean the bunny cages.
another busy week awaits, but we're refreshed, renewed and ready for it.

You do such a good job on vegetable matter! I try and try, but veg and fruit are not my subject, I guess. Glad you had such a nice time.
