This sort of thing has been on my mind a lot lately. I've gained about 30 pounds in the last 5 years or so and although I still think I look pretty good, I'm constantly catching myself thinking I should be stick thin like I used to be. I'm actually much more comfortable now...I was so skinny because I was always miserable. My extra weight seems to symbolize my contentment. But I'm subtly being influenced by women's culture, almost subconsciously thinking I should be better, for no reason at all. Insecurity is not attractive but more importantly, it isn't a fun feeling to have. So you're right! Why do women always want to look like someone else? It's just silly.

Your poor friend. Hope she gets a better head on in a while. I have a friend who's a Hollywood actress and she even has her muscles enhanced with make-up when she walks the red carpet. She looks lovely but it's all an illusion.
