Interesting.  For background,  storage tanks have been a vocal request from the community to prevent CSO events during storms.  What both the Brooklyn Paper and the Brownstoner post fail to note is that the pool site itself is a former manufactured gas plant (MGP) site with contamination issues.  I imagine a major consideration in site selection would be whether the EPA deems an excavation of the contaminants below the pool is important to the overall cleanup effort.  "As part of the $500 million Superfund cleanup of the Gowanus Canal, the federal government is proposing putting massive holding tanks for raw sewage beneath the Douglas Degraw Pool and the Thomas Green Playground.
