The bowling alley was located across the street from the Rice Bowl. If I am not mistaken, it was called Bakersfield Bowling Academy My dad had a team and bowled there weekly. There was another bowling alley on 19th just east of Union called San Joaquin Bowling Alley. (Sure hope I don't have these two places confused, but I am sure about the names)

Completely appalled by Jose Gaspar's opinion piece on the 4th of July. This was my comment attached to his piece:
Dearest Mr. Gaspar,
Don't you find it ironic that your opinion piece was followed by a post from Richard Beene reporting the fact that admissions to California learning institutions will be even harder for local (legal) students? How wonderful that Ms. Rivera has taken full advantage of a FREE education at Arvin High School. At least she is making the best out of a situation her parents placed her.

Can you imagine how much more superior American education would be if students in my country illegally would not be filling seats meant for students that have families following the laws and contributing to the cost of such an education? Please spare me the lecture that these law breakers are paying sales tax. BALDERDASH!

I know. I know. We all come from immigrants. True. I come from LEGAL immigrants. Crowding in line and not following the rules really scratches my hide - and not in a good way.

Come here legally and I will embrace you and all of your accomplishments. As for donations to the College Dream Fund...you must be out of your ever lovin' mind!

PS - Thought the Bowling Academy was located across Golden State where Farmer John's Pancake House was. I believe it's some kind of prisoner detention facility along side the Kern Island Canal.
