I live on the coast and it's damp and breezy. My furnace is on the fritz and I can't afford a new one. My woodstove is pretty efficient, don't get it. Hey but it's ok for someone down the street to mow their lawn and use the leaf blower which is just as polluting as a car. I read that the Bay Area Air Quality Mgmt...basis these bans on predictions! No real figures. Thanksgiving day air quality was way below average! Yet they still had the ban in place.I try and be green as the next person.....but this is crap!!!!!

I was headed west on Truxtun Extension around noon Tuesday when I saw smoke billowing into the sky over near the Cal State campus. The sky was filled with smoke but alas, turned out to be a controlled burn over near the maintenance facility on campus. The authorities are citing folks for having a fire on "no burn" days and this is allowed?
"Whose idea of a "no burn day" is this?"

I do claim the photo credit. It doesn't capture the sky and of course the smell...

Ridiculous. And yet my tiny firepit in the backyard is banned from roating marshmellows. What a joke.
