Wow! So many fun things you have been doing. I love your platter, but I don't think my husband would react the same way....LOL Maybe if it had sports cars on it. :/ Enjoy having a car! Shop on. Kit
I love that sign and could not have passed it up either. I also like the platter too. I also love chairs, and have so many I don't have space for them until it's warmer and out on the deck they'll go. I know the shop where you were, it's a cool place to "dig" around in. I see you are going to Jennifer's Midwest get together, would you be interested in driving together! I would drive, let me know. Either way it will be great to meet you! Take care and go nuts with having a car!

Hi Janie! Oh, I love your sweet little sign and I think the kitchen is the perfect place for it. You got some great things. I get those emails and try so hard not to open them up! :) Be a sweetie, Shelia ;)
WOW- those are some awesome finds! I love your hubs loves your server...now just don't go breaking it, haha.
Glad she found that gorgeous desk- you will have to share a pic of how it turns out once it is painted.
I loved that warmer weather - but did you get all the snow we had today? I am sooooo bummed, it stayed and stuck. Bleh, come ON spring, arrive, would ya please?
Anyway, nice visiting you! Sorry I have been so absent from blogland, life took a turn for the busy!
HI Jane, Love all your treasures you found. That desk your daughter found is awesome. Where is this town with the shops? Let me know I might have to go there someday. Have a great week. Kris
I had to laugh at your hubby's comment, 'it's not coming inside' that's so funny. Although I was quite impressed that he took such notice of that pretty platter. I can't say that my husband would have even seen it unless I waved it in front of his face. Good luck with Emily's wisdom teeth, ugh, but at least you get the car :)
Love that egg platter, Jane! Too bad about the dishes from PB being gone. I'd bring the napkins with me when you go in case you decide you will just return them if they don't have the plates in stock. Your daughter found a great desk! Love that style with the drawers.
WOW, lots of good things in this post! I LOVE that platter and OMG that windowbox planter is amazing! Can't wait to see what you do with it! Enjoy having some wheels while your Daughter recovers:) HUGS!
Hi Jane, love all of your new finds... that platter is beautiful!... and I would use your new French piece outside, as is, except for drainage holes... and plant beautiful blooms in it... then pretend you are in the French countryside and sit and sip a glass of wine and look at how gorgeous it is... enjoy your Springtime weather and all of your new tresors!... xoxo Julie Marie
Morning Jane, I adore the Twinkle sign, I would have bought it too, sweet. Love the plater with the different eggs, we seem to like many same things.....Always enjoy my visits with you, Blessings Francine.
You've got some great finds Jane! Love them all, and I agree J&M is addicting ! I wouldn't paint the wood on the French thingy, it looks perfect to me the way it is. I adore the Twinkle sign, really cute either in the kitchen or anywhere else! Your plate is perfect for this coming Easter so don't fret about the missing plates, you'll find something similar for sure. The window box would be perfect for flowers or herbs, or anything that is vine-y I think!
Love, Love, Love the twinkle, twinkle, little star sign! So neat!! You did good on the new family heirloom too. Sending up prayers for a speedy recovery for Abby. Wisdom teeth usually have a pretty easy recovery time. Don't get into too much trouble with her car. :)
Hi Jane, I saw the WS platter in person in the store and it is gorgeous. I love almost all their dishes. They had a table set for Easter and I was glowing over it. Sadly I bought dishcloths and left the store. I may visit the outlet next month when CC finally gets home. I am gardening in spite of shoulder pain. I use my right arm. I bought my first foxglove plant today and am very excited. I hope spring is headed your way, olive
Oh I hope she does OK. She may be miserable for awhile but she's young! Meanwhile enjoy the car. That is an amazing platter. You all have had some good finds lately. I don't know about spring. Our blossoms are like on "hold" as it's been sooo cold. Today it's sunny and looks like spring but you need a winter coat outside.
Jane, Awesome finds! Love the flower trough! I would use some of those wonderful preserved hydrangeas you have in them. Don't know if I would paint it or not, but maybe so.....in white. Love the window box too! It would be a great piece on a mantel if hubby would let you bring it in. :) Now the platter is gorgeous! Love it! You've got some great items and can enjoy deciding where to use them. Hope you have fun with a car to use! Take care!!
Looks like you're having some fun shopping around. I love that platter! Isn't it great when the men in our lives love something we buy instead of complaining about it?
What a fun day you had treasure hunting! Do you have room at the lake house for your frame? I can see it hanging outside with flowers and greenery spilling out of it.
I'm familiar with Joss and Main, though I've never purchased anything from them. I love that egg tray! Just curious as to what you're going to do with it...are you going to use it in a display/vignette or actually use it to serve food on at Easter? Love the window frame you got, too. I'm sure you'll find the perfect spot for it outside; if not at your home in the city, then the lake house. Pretty desk and chair that Emily found. Hope all goes well with Abby's wisdom teeth surgery.
Fabulous finds, Jane! I love your WS tray and Emily's desk & chair are so classic. Your window box (huge) thingy is marvelous! You could put a big wreath over the window part. I laughed at your husband's reaction - my hubby would say the same thing!
I love your finds! I have so little wall space in my kitchen, it drives me crazy to see things I would like to hang in there but nothing fits.
I would go nuts without having a car. Hubby would go nuts too. With him retired, I could drive his TrailBlazer, but I don't like driving it. We get along very well but we both enjoy our brief periods of having the house to ourselves.
Well I love all your finds Jane. I agree with your hubby on the platter, I opened the window to WS to go take a look for myself;>) The large flower buckets in frames that you got from Joss & Main would look great with some tall flowering branches for spring don't you think?
I love that flower trough and would have clicked buy on that one too! As far as PB goes, sometimes if you don't buy right away things are gone. I am still sad over a rug I wanted but waited too long and it sold out. Have a good weekend Jane!
I love sitting with a cup of morning coffee and enjoying your rambles. The only problem is I can't talk back! Joss & Main is one of my favorite places to browse, but these days I'm trying not to buy anything. The hubby will be happy to know that!
Love the desk and chair that Emily found. I would put some type of ivy in the French flower trough. Would find pots that could set in there without having to actually plant in the containers. Very pretty and I like the natural wood. And the window frame planter you bought is great. I'm lucky my husband doesn't care what I do inside or how much I hang on the walls or what I bring home. He's the one that suggested we go to Friday Market today for shopping. :) Have a great weekend. Tammy
Oh Jane....Joss & Main is like a drug for me. My youngest, Melissa, got me hooked just before Christmas. I, seriously, am going to need to seek a rehab center if I can't kick this habit on my own...and soon! I just ordered another chair, some pink vintage looking glasses, and two sets of white dishes just in the past two days!! I hand my check over to the hubster every week to pay for my "habit". It's not easy to hide the things I buy either, because the boxes are SO big! The dining room chairs came in sets of two!! (I got six) eeek!! The chandelier for over the table was humungus!!!! Wait until the UPS guy delivers the chair for the living room...YIKES!!! I don't know how to get this monkey off my back??!! I've tried not to look at the daily sales. It's not easy when it pops up in my email box every day!! Help me, Jane!!!
OH Jane - I WANT that planter - How gorgeous that would look in a kitchen - can't you remove a wall of cupboards or something LMHO!!! It'll be gorgeous outside too - with a climbing sort of flowering plant :) xoxo
These ARE great finds! Love that gorgeous platter. I love those french flower pails too. I would keep the natural wood. I've never seen one of these, but it's perfect for keeping the pails from getting knocked over in a big florist display I suppose. Your window box is going to look wonderful all planted. SOON!
Hi Jane, Yes, I've shopped on J&M and have purchased some great items. One Kings Lane is another.. I get in trouble over there too! Your platter from PB is so pretty. Have a nice weekend! xxleslie
Love the egg platter. What a great find. Yes, learned my lesson with PB too, "if you like it you better buy it, or it will be gone." Missed out on some really cute Christmas things this year by not jumping on things. Really wish they would open a outlet up this way.
Jane! Kudos and hugs for your discipline and weight loss! Your words keep me encouraged as I pursue my own battle!
I am happy that you kept your French flower stand au natural! It looks wonderful in your new living room environment. It appears that Abigail preferred it's lovely atmosphere to convalesce. I am sorry to hear of her complications. Monseur Milo is a wonderful caregiver!
Emily's desk looks great!
I hope you have your car back. I know you are itching to get to the garden store! The best of blessings to the "B's"! w/L

[Image]Isn't this just the cutest metal sign? I know, it looks like it belongs in a nursery but I fell in love with it and it's in my kitchen. I moved it here to take a picture but otherwise I have it on the window ledge above the sink. It looks really cute at night. Do you ever go to Joss & Main? I really have to avoid it ,but for some reason, I clicked the email open one day and I found a few neat things and at quite a savings. I'll show you more further on in this post.
[Image]I have my mind on Easter. It's very late this year and I have a really good feeling that our "real" spring is going to be just behind it. March is just flying by. We had a little tease last week with warm weather and sunshine. On Friday morning I went out to the back yard and hooked up my hose and sprinkler. It was in the mid fifties and I didn't bother with a jacket. I have a garden bed that is under an overhang of the roof, so I have to keep it watered in the summer. I checked over the winter that it was getting snow because even when plants are dormant during the winter, they need moisture. The blowing snow we had so much of did the job most of the time, but I decided to give it a good long soak with the sprinkler. It was so great to be out in the fresh air, the sky was a wonderful shade of blue. There wasn't a thing in bloom and all the trees and bushes are bare brown. All the mulch I laid last summer is pretty much disintegrated and the yard is full of sticks and small branches. But the dogs were running and romping and playing and I thought, this is going to be one heck of a summer!
Remember me showing you pictures of the dessert plates and napkins Pottery Barn had for spring? I ordered the napkins but when I tried to order the plates, only one color was left. And then a few days they were gone and there has been nothing since. I really felt a little angry because I now have the napkins and they match the no~longer~existing plates. Our closest PB is 40 minutes away and I think I just may pay them a visit. Maybe the store can get them. Anyway, I turned to Williams Sonoma and I saw this large platter. And yes, I mean LARGE! (I just got my tape measure out. It's 19 1/2 X 14). The Husband isn't thrilled when I shop online, but he also knows I'm not a "shopping/lunching" wife, so he takes it with a grain of salt, though he has his limits. I woke up early one morning with him shaking me, "Where did you get that tray? It's beautiful!! It's going to be a family heirloom!" Wow, I loved that! Made me want to head back to the website!
[Image]This is a close up. It really is lovely. So take that, Pottery Barn!
[Image]My pictures are a bit out of order, this also came from Joss & Main. It's called a French flower trough. Has anyone seen one of these? Maybe in France? :) I suppose I could use it for fresh flowers but these are some really big containers...I don't grow anything in profusion that would fill these darlings up.
[Image]I've been looking at the wood, I may paint it but not sure if I should do something really colorful and use it outside (I could make drainage with some pebbles and plant flowers). Or should I paint it a light shade of color and keep it inside, maybe on the hearth with dried flowers? Or maybe you like the natural wood. Tell me what you think.
[Image]I have been very, very cooped up. I still don't have a car. You know, in my next post I am going to include a picture of The Husband's little roadster that gives me such misery. It just sits in the garage all snug and cozy all winter long. There was a day not too long ago that I was going to use it, I really needed to make a hair appointment and I thought, heck, if it starts to snow I'll just be blocks away. And then I remembered last spring, all the tires lost their air once it was backed out...from sitting in one place for months I guess. I didn't want to get stranded with a flat. Anyway, Emily and I made plans to do some antiquing yesterday. We went to a little town just south of us here that has a lot of little shops and one larger place with booths. But first we had lunch at a little Mexican restaurant, Mario's. Her hubby Mike works 20 minutes away so he joined us on his lunch hour. Fun!
[Image]This is the place with the booths. I was really impressed with the furniture...lots of great pieces. Emily was looking for a small desk and chair, she want to have a little office area in the "future nursery". I just loitered behind her although I kept seeing new natural wicker chairs that were quite a deal and could be painted any color in the world. I just can't fathom where I could use one.
[Image]Emily was successful in finding an affordable desk that she could paint and jazz up. I was really happy for her. I recently got a new laptop and gave her my old one. She has been using an IPad for ages and was happy to have this. I'm surprised she hasn't set up a home office by now, she works on a lot of designs at home after working hours. We made a final stop at an antique/junk shop just a few blocks from home. This guy has old doors, shutters, garden/backyard furniture and statuary and chairs galore. We found this chair and it was a perfect fit. She cleaned the seat up with a little soap and bleach and it's as good as new. I saw a neat Windsor chair, the back of it rather high which made it cool. I just dismissed the thought because the car was packed. I really have a thing for chairs, I use them indoors and out as little props for plants and books and you name it. I have them scattered around the lakehouse. I think I may go back for this. But, I didn't come home empty handed.
[Image]Ta Da!! Isn't this cool?! $20.00!! It's huge (I've used that word 10 times in this post). Perfectly solid and chippy. I propped it up by the sofa so you can see how big it is. If I had the room and wall space inside I could use it perhaps with plates in the box section, maybe some hooks underneath with teacups hanging? But I'm dreaming. I have zero space. And the first thing The Husband said was, "It's not coming inside." Like I brought home a stray dog.
[Image] Ooh, I love it!! Girls, you have to make one of these (or withhold dinner until your hubby makes you one). I am going to hang it somewhere outside, either here or at the lake and after I drill drainage holes in it I will plant flowers in the box. I need to woop up the window part...any ideas?
[Image]Abby has been on spring break from teaching this week. I'm taking her to have those wisdom teeth pulled bright and early tomorrow. I will then have her car at my disposal for the rest of the week. What sort of damage can I wreak at this point? Ha!
See you soon! :)
Joining Tweak It Tuesday at Cozy Little House. Thanks, Brenda!
XO,
Jane
