Your mantel looks gorgeous and as a beach gal, who loves coastal decorating, I say bravo on adding beachy elements. I remember hearing Nate Berkus give his list of 10 things that every room should have and one of them was something from the sea, so you did Nate (and me) proud!
I think its even more important to add something coastal if you don't live by the sea.

What a beautiful mantle-scape! (Is that a word? LOL) There is a winter wonderland look to it, but I bet if the temperatures outside (bad wind chill day in Michigan), I bet I would be thinking serene, elegant beach life.

Thanks so much for coming by tonight.. O, Blondie, Splenda and I are LOVERS ! I could not survive without it. We are eating EVERYTHING sugar free. I know it won't last...I am already craving a HUGE HERSHEY BAR WITH ALMONDS ! But, actually, Splenda is great in a lot of things. My peanut butter cookies taste almost the same as when I use the real thing. Jello and sugar free cool whip is our nightly "bedtime snack"... If we can just keep HEALTHY on our minds, maybe it will be a good thing. Now, my daughter is an RN and she doesn't want us using TOO much Splenda..something in it isn't all that good for us...aspertaim or something like that. [Image]It's Friday and time for another mantel party hosted by Beth at The Stories Of A To Z. This is such a fun event and I have gotten so much inspiration from the participants in creating new and interesting mantelscapes. Visit Beth and see what everyone has to show off this week and see Beth's cute Valentine's Day vignette.
I drew inspiration from my vintage mirror for this weeks party and I want to thank everyone who complimented it last week. I really do love it and I think it will be a permanent fixture in all of my mantelscapes. I really love the look of the silver and glass, so I shopped my house for pieces to add. I also added touches of white for some balance. [Image]The little candelabra is lit with tea lights and I propped a starfish against it for a pop of white to match the base. I probably have no business adding coastal items since I live in the frigid Midwest, but a girl can break the rules, can't she? I have also added a mercury glass candle holder. [Image]On the opposite side I have another candelabra that I found at an antique shop where I also found the lamps. I felt so bad when they went out of business after 35 years, but we were able to bid on and win an entire 90 piece set of china for $40.00 on the last day of their auction. Whoo Hoo!! Balancing this side is a tall jar of sea shells and some white branches, keeping with that unlikely coastal look I have going on here. And another mercury glass candle holder. In the center I have added a vanity mirror rimmed in silver. I hope you have enjoyed my vignette! It looks so pretty Blondie. I don't have a mantle to decorate. Not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing. :) Probably a good thing, otherwise I would be "fussing" with it all the time.

I love the mantel. Thanks for always leaving such nice comments. I know I shouldn't beat myself up about not eating healthy :) I did great today, just had roast garlic chicken, steamed green beans and brown rice. Sounds boring but it filled a nice hole ;)

There is a winter wonderland look to it, but I bet if the temperatures outside (bad wind chill day in Michigan), I bet I would be thinking serene, elegant beach life.

O, Blondie, Splenda and I are LOVERS ! I could not survive without it. We are eating EVERYTHING sugar free. I know it won't last...I am already craving a HUGE HERSHEY BAR WITH ALMONDS !
But, actually, Splenda is great in a lot of things. My peanut butter cookies taste almost the same as when I use the real thing. Jello and sugar free cool whip is our nightly "bedtime snack"...
If we can just keep HEALTHY on our minds, maybe it will be a good thing.
Now, my daughter is an RN and she doesn't want us using TOO much Splenda..something in it isn't all that good for us...aspertaim or something like that.
O, I just wish I had a big ole juicy cheeseburger and FRIES....:O)
