Hi Janie... love finding a new post today from you!... your cookbook shelf looks FABULOUS!... love those white bowls there too... so happy you got the little bunnies back in their nest and they are ok... your Pussy Willows look so pretty, I just love those!... sometimes it's nice to not have any pressing plans... just go with the flow... wishing you the rest of a beautiful weekend, xoxo Julie Marie
I hope you have a great weekend - it's a good time to re-charge and get ready for all the action that's sure to come your way. I tried to follow the link to Maria Elena's blog, but hit a dead-end.
You are right about the neutral paint color - looks great. Also like the paired down cookbooks. I am finding that I get so many good recipes from my daughter and from allrecipes.com and myrecipes.com that there is no point in having a cookbook. I print those out and put them in a binder. Love your new blog header (where have I been???) Linda
I have a few cookbooks I need to organize...I really like what you have done with yours, Janie. Oh, my goodness, that wedding date is fast approaching...you must be getting so excited! Have a great weekend.
Blondie, Your books do look nicely organized now. Funny about the bunnies. That is nice the girls are going to be doing a bit of cleaning at the lakehouse. Lucky you. Enjoy your quiet time . xoxo,Susie
Hi Jane, nice to have a relaxing weekend, get some things done around the house.......Very neat the cookbook shelf, nice white bowls.....I`m on the hunt for Pussy Willows but still winter here, yuk!!!! Blessings Francine.
Hi Jane, The shelves look great! I was worried the bunny story was not going to turn out the way it did. Thanks for the sweet comment on my blog. I'm enjoying a chance to sit back and visit some now ;) Kate
Jane, Your cookbook ledge looks wonderful! You styled it very chic! Love the white bowls and the white walls with your pretty wood.
With such lagging Winter weather in the Midwest, it must be nice to have a lighter feeling inside the house! It's going to be even more glorious when the sun starts shining!
Is that the hood over your stove to the right of the shelves? Just the peek suggests that it's lovely!
We are back to rain. I can't complain... as Easter weekend fared 70 degrees on both days. Holland didn't even need a sweater for very her first egg hunt!
Layla brought you gifts...Glad to hear that the bunnies were safely returned to their little hollow!
Your cookbook shelves look so much better! Neat, cute, and organized. I love the little decorative touches. If that's your range hood to the right in the picture, we wanna see it. lol It looks so cool!
Oh girl, I know you ALL are having SO much fun with the wedding plans! I am enjoying a small bit of doing nothing! Hope you enjoy this weekend of not much to do! HUGS!
You have transformed those shelves Jane. They look fabulous. I went to an estate sale yesterday and that dear woman had at least one thousand cookbooks. It was daunting just looking at them for a few minutes. Your creamy walls are lighter and brighter than the green. xo, Olive
Your cookbook shelves look great Jane, cute bowls! Enjoy your quiet weekend, we should be in the 60's tomorrow and I can't wait:@)

Hi Jane ~ your kitchen shelves look really nice especially against the new wall color. I always feel so great when I get something organized. Have a wonderful, relaxing weekend!
You did an awesome job on your bookshelves! Bella has found baby rabbits before but it wasn't a good ending for the rabbits. John tells me I can't scold her because she is a hunting dog and that is a natural instinct. So, I watch very careful for babies this time of the year.
Glad you have a couple of weekends free before the wedding! Rest and enjoy them.
I am having the same kind of weekend. Louis Dean is out of town and I am virtually on my own. I am so tired I am happy to be by myself. Don't think I even have enough energy to keep a conversation going. Putting fresh sheets on the bed and planning on a good long read in my book.
I am proud of you - parting with things. I have such a hard time letting go.....
Wow, you purged the cook books! Looks great. I like the cream walls too. We haven't done a lot this weekend either. Come over and see my latest 'find'. I've already changed it and will show the makeover soon. Have a great Sunday!
Looing at your bookshelves makes me think of how I need to get rid of some practically new quilt books. I was into quilting for so many years and then just lost interest. Too overwhelming for me anymore. I love crocheting because it is so portable and I can do it anywhere. Not sure how I will do it...give to library or try to sell. It's nice you have a quiet weekend..we all need those once in a while. You never know what is ahead of you and will have to draw on those reserves! Enjoy it!~Hugs, Patti
The cookbook wall looks great. Take advantage of an easy week, Jane, as it will pick up again. Love the idea of going to wineries for the girls, they'll have a blast. I am going to visit that linky party you mentioned. xo
Your kitchen shelves look so pretty!! I hope those tiny baby bunnies are ok. One year we found a baby bunny in our yard on Easter. It is still my favorite Easter. I hope you have a happy Sunday!
Hi Jane, Glad you found the nest and could put the babies back in there. Bunnies are a good sign that we may get spring weather to stay soon. Hope you have a great rest of the week end. Kris
Jane I love the shelves new display and the new paint color! We're thinking alike my friend...I've been searching Ebay for dried hydrangeas too. I want to fill a basket near my fireplace with them! Sounds like your daughter and friends are going to have a blast this weekend!
Love the shelves on the new color, Jane! It all looks so fresh. Your blog looks great! I haven't been blogging for a while, so was surprised to see the change in your header. I LOVE how it looks!!! Your daughter's party sounds like it will be fun for everyone. Enjoy. Big hugs to you, sweet friend. xxoo
The shelves look great! it's so easy to amass a huge collection of cookbooks over the years that you don't use. I know we have! Kudos for having the strength to purge some of them. Glad you found the bunny nest too, poor babes, they are so cute! No sunshine here but it's warming up and I am so thankful! Enjoy your free weekend!
The sun is definitely shining here, Janie, since I am still in FL, prob. high 70's right now. I love your recipe shelves now, loving the look of the numbered bowls....Christine
Your Easter blooms are so beautiful....love the color!!! What a relief you were able to place the bunnies back in their home :o) Your cookbooks look great too! Have a great week!!! ~Des
Jane, if you get some hydrangeas, plant them where they will get morning sun. I have found that is the best location for them. I had 10 hydrangeas at the old house that had TONS of flowers. I am going to bring some of them here soon. XO, Pinky
Your shelf does look beautiful now! I also like the creamy color on the walls. Hope you had a nice weekend. We were BUSY!!! Friday night social at the clubhouse and then out to dinner with 2 other couples last night. XO, Pinky
I love your changes Jane! So many great ideas. You say lake house and I get nostalgic. Come on Spring! You have so many wonderful things to look forward to. Hugs friend, Cindy
The shelves do look better against the white wall! I got rid of my excess cookbooks years ago! They were taking up too much space! Now I only have the ones I actually use!
I think the new cookbook shelf looks great! The creamy colored wall really brightens it up. I need to go through some of my cookbooks too. I have a ton and hardly use some of them. :)
It is raining hard here in Utah. We are starting to see blooms but like you I keep blooms in my house. Thanks so much for the comment on my blog and I love your projects. XO Isabelle

Funny how it is when you have nothing on the schedule. For me, that generally means I get less done than if I were busy. At least you made some progress.
The cook book shelves look great! I have a "few" spots to organize like that at my house!! So much to do...so little time!! Hope you are having a great week, Laurel
Your shelves look great....I love your little bowls on the middle shelf. It's funny, but when you look at the before photo you don't even notice the shelves, but now you do. They look so nice!
You and I must be on the same wavelength. I just started a Pinterest board not too long ago for home gallery walls. :D I inherited tons of art from my MIL and I'm trying to decide what to do. I only have two walls to work with, and one is very narrow, so I might go floor to ceiling....who knows!
Happy you found the gallery shelves, so you're ready to get started!
I love the new look! The bowls are perfect! I'm lucky, I have a cabinet for my cookbooks, so the only ones that show are the couple that I stack on the countertop. I would hate to have my entire collection exposed. I would have to do what you did...get rid of many.
You can read my post today about how we spent yesterday. I feel like my entire week isn't going as planned and we have our Florida trip in just a few days. Today, we are waiting for the big storm to hit...so I'm walking around completely jumpy and on edge. At least I get more done when I'm nervous.
As for the Doobies...it was the best thing ever. I was singing and dancing...I'm still on a high when I think about it. If you get a chance to see them, go...you would love it.
LOVE THIS post:) your blog Is such an inspiration.
If you want some travel inspiration..check out my new post:)
Have a great weekend dear

[Image]Happy Saturday everyone! We have no plans for the weekend. None. Zip. Not sure how I feel about that, I have nothing planned for next week either! It seems the flurry of activities ebbs and flows. Well, I'm sure I'll find something that needs fixing, organizing, fluffing or tweeking. I'm sharing my Easter flowers with you, they actually look better now that they have opened. It's so nice to have something LIVING in my house because there sure isn't anything outside. Well, I did spot some tulip and daffodil shoots sprouting up the other day when I had a little adventure in the backyard. Layla found a bunny nest and left two tiny bald babies on the back steps. They didn't even have their eyes open. I cuddled them to keep them warm while I searched for the nest. My backyard is pretty big and it was like looking for a needle in a haystack. I had pretty much decided to just cover them up in some leaves and leave nature to do it's thing when Abby suggested we let Layla out and have her lead us to the nest. And she sure did! I tucked those little babies back in the hole with their siblings and let out a sigh of relief. Thankfully she hadn't harmed them but believe me, some that she's found have not fared so well.
[Image]Here are my new and improved cookbook shelves. Yes, I can finally say I organized them after giving away half the books and then shopping the house for some little extras to put up there. I think the arrangement looks so much better on the creamy wall than when it was green. As below...
[Image]Not that you can see much of the wall! This area had become command central with the overload of books, the calendar, the dog leashes. Now do you see why I need to simplify my life?! So, do you like the new look?
[Image]Once again I'm on eBay, bidding and wrangling on dried flowers. This is what you have to lower yourself to when you live in the city. And even at the lake, the only thing we have in abundance are cattails. I also won a box full of dried hydrangeas and the colors are beautiful. I think I spend less on these dried flowers then I would if I bought the faux ones at Michael's.
Last week I made a trip to Homegoods and I found two white washed wall ledges for my gallery wall. I think this is a better way to go then trying to figure out how to hang the pictures and putting a zillion holes in the wall. And they were half the price of the ones I saw at Pottery Barn. So the next step is to choose some frames and I'd like to paint some myself, and then of course, go through my photo files to find pictures. I also paid a visit to good old Tarjay and walked out with a lampshade and a loaf of bread! That is a first for me! lol!
Not much else is new. On the wedding front, Emily's bachelorette party is being held up at the lakehouse. They have booked a bus and are spending the day touring vineyards and wineries. What a great time they're going to have. And it's nice for me, too, because Emily, Abby and a few of the girls are going up early to open windows and do a little spring cleaning. Yes!!
I hope all of you have a wonderful weekend. Is the sun shining for you? We are already 54 degrees and I'm loving it! :)
I'm joining Maria Elena's Tuesdays At Our Home. Stop by and join the party!
XO,
Jane

Nice job on the shelf. I love cook books and have a hard time parting with them ... so I have to be very careful not to buy too many.
Enjoy the calm before the ... storm, I mean wedding.
