Our dog is really excited because when they left for the cabin on Sunday the pet food place was closed and my husband had to buy her some food at the grocery store. She got something new to her. Not the usual dry crap. New dry crap. Most years I end the season with some dead plants that never found their way into the good earth. This year is it was 2 hydrangeas. Oooops. I do think your tray is for eggs but for boiled ones at breakfast. Then you can toss the shells into the center well. ;-)

such lovely things! i love that white dish - whatever it is. my guess would be you are right, it is an oyster, or perhaps clams on the half shell dish, with sauce in the center. maybe ice could also go in the center to keep the entire dish cold. but it is very pretty, however you decide to use it.

Jane! How are you? It seems like it's been a long while since I've visited. I'm still trying to get into the swing of things. I hope your summer has been wonderful. Ours went by rather quickly and my boys and I are celebrating the last week of their summer. My girls still have a whole month left before regular classes at their respectful colleges begin, although my step daughter began at the JC just this week. I have an egg plate with an odd divided rectangular section in the middle. Maybe the same designer created yours after eating eggs tainted with a strong hallucinogenic. Mine could be for cubist chickens laying a few rectangular eggs to be deviled, and yours could be for one half of an ostrich egg. :)
You could use it for serving different foods such as eggs (oops sorry, you didn't want to hear that!) oysters, clams etc., and set a bowl of saucy sauce in the hole......HOWEVER, how many times do we plain folks eat those things at home!!!!
How about keeping earrings in it with a little plant, ivy perhaps, tehe!! in the middle!

Well, an outbuilding is a building that is built in the back (garden) of your house. In Belgium a lot of people have it. It's meant to use for barbecueing or as a poolhouse or as a stydyroom,... any function you want to give to it.
The outbuilding on my blog is indeed on our property and we gonna use it for barbecueing when the weather is a bit chilly and also for protecting our plants in pots against the freezing weather in winter.

Isn't that mat the funniest?!! (so is the spider story, for that fact....let your hubby know that we have pleanty of spiders at both of our abodes....no ivy growing up & around!!) But really, my vote's for escargot, which means that you can use it for ANYTHING because NO ONE serves escargot at home. Well, at least, I don't think so.

You asked me how far my new home is from where I currently live. It is about 45 minutes away. You asked why I sold my current home and am moving....there are several reasons. 1. My husband travels for work a couple of times a week, about 2 hours away. This move will save him 45 minutes each way. 2. We live WAY out in the country now. Far from entertainment, hospitals, doctors, grocery stores, etc and we felt we needed to be closer to the hospitals and grocery stores. 3. Most of the things we do for fun, art galleries, antiquing, shows, entertainment, hiking, socializing etc are where we are moving too. So there you have it. The reasons for the move. Hugs, Penny
That placemat is so funny! I know that's what Buddy thinks of his food because he eats it as a last resort if we don't give him anything good from the table. Yes, I admit it. We feed him sometimes. Basically only vegetables. Tonight it was green beans. Freshly steamed green beans. Much better than his dry dog food.

[Image] I hope everyone is having a good week! It is so beautiful here today in Chicago! It's in the 70's and sunny. I went for an hour long bike ride today, just up and down all the streets, looking at all the pretty flowers and landscaping, getting idea's for next year. I was so inspired, I came home and planted two more pots of flowers!! No kidding! I had about eight more geraniums just sitting in the pots they came in, waiting for a cozy home in a big clay pot...gosh, that's so sad. I am a negligent gardener!! lol!! I also snuck in some more ivy which The Husband hates (he grew up in an ivy covered house and he says ivy attracts spiders...I am laughing so hard right now it is hard to type!!). Okay, I have pulled myself together, hee, hee... Today is Three Or More Tuesday brought to us by Tam at The Gypsy's Corner. I picked up some things at the Worlds Longest Yard Sale and one of the items is below. I just liked it for some reason, the color of the glaze, the good condition it's in, all the hours I can spend figuring out what it is...
[Image] So. Any idea's? My first thought was a dish for deviled eggs, but it has a well in the center so that wouldn't make sense. Besides, I already have a deviled egg dish I rarely use, so please don't suggest it is a deviled egg dish.
[Image] On Sunday, The Husband and I went out to a HomeGoods store in the suburbs (YES! Finally I have been to HomeGoods!! Oh, the fun I had. But that is another post!!). Afterwards, we ate at a restaurant called Pappadeaux and we ordered oysters for an appetizer. They came on a dish something like this. Again, no well in the center, but whose to say that you can't serve oysters or clams or mussels on this with a nice sauce in the middle to spoon over? I think that is what I will use it for. Please, no one come back and say it is a garden planter or that I have it upside down! It can be WHATEVER I want it to be. So there!! ;-)
Below are some really solid, heavy wall hooks made of cast iron. I knew I would come up with something for them, I mean we all need hooks, although I hate to say that I wouldn't want to bump my head in to one of these babies!! They are solid! So I started to think that maybe I would get a long 2 X 4, stain or paint it and drill these hooks into it and use it in a bathroom to hang towels or robes or something. [Image] I took a couple of pictures because it is hard to tell what they are and I wanted to show the bits of rust coming through that gives it that "old" look. Why is it that I would want old hooks but not old towels? What is it about "old" anyway?? "No, can't put these hooks in my bathroom, they're not old enough.". My mother was always wanting new things and I am wanting old. Go figure.
My third item came from my friend Jody at Village Floral in my lake town. She is fast becoming a good friend because she has helped me out tremendously with something I can't say too much about, but it has to do with the upcoming Cloche Party hosted by Marty.
[Image] She had this plant in her shop that she was embarrassed to say that she had neglected. So that little part of me that has always taken in stray dogs and cats, and birds with broken wings, said, "I'll take it!". So now it is in a pretty new wicker pot on my counter at the lake. I trimmed some of the bottom off and have that in a jar of water to grow some roots and then I will poke them in to fill it out. Then I have to find a place for it. It can't stay on the kitchen counter forever. Well, enough about my Rescue Plant. Please note, the kitchen remodel is not finished, that is why the cabinets and walls don't have trim.
I had to sneak this picture in. This is the dog bed at the lake. I keep it here by the windows because they are floor to ceiling windows and Milo and Layla love to look out. They can't do that here. But I thought this was cute because for the first time Milo (the white one) got in the bed with Layla. After two years I think he is finally accepting her. Or he is just darn tired!!
[Image] Which leads me to the fourth and last thing I have today. I bought it for the dogs and it speaks for itself.

I've always thought the longest yard sale looked like such fun! No addreses to find, no signs to look for, just get on that road and go!
Since I'v barely ever been out of California I'll have to sit here checking out craigs list and being envious.
The white dish is lovely. That well in the middle is a puzzle to me too. The hooks are fabulous, perfect for a fluffy white robe!

JAne...I so love your dog mat! I wish I could find one. Thats great! Yo ugot some amazing finds on the sale. I LOVE the dish. Its an oyster dish, a bowl for coctail goes in the middle. LOVE it! Also love the hooks. Sweet!

I want to first thank you for the reaction on my blogpost!
Well, an outbuilding is a building that is built in the back (garden) of your house. In Belgium a lot of people have it.
It's meant to use for barbecueing or as a poolhouse or as a stydyroom,... any function you want to give to it.
The outbuilding on my blog is indeed on our property and we gonna use it for barbecueing when the weather is a bit chilly and also for protecting our plants in pots against the freezing weather in winter.
I understand not so well your words: ...blogs for Three. Can you explain that to me?

(so is the spider story, for that fact....let your hubby know that we have pleanty of spiders at both of our abodes....no ivy growing up & around!!)
What fun finds you have - and we love your oyster dish...perhaps it's just for a fresh flower display that is to be surrounded by oysters....ya, that's it!!

Thanks for visiting Normandy today, we put our boiled eggs in egg cups when we eat them but I don't have egg cups wirh roosters on so left them out of the tablescape!! Is that cheating?? LOL.
I love your dog mat, must try and find one for Ben, my cocker spaniel.
And......I think that your dish is an oyster server, how about lemon quarters in the centre ready for squeezing over the oysters?

Hi Blondie! OMG. My DH and I want to spend our next vacation traveling through that longest yard sale!!! We say we are going to go every year but never do! Is it wonderful??
I avoided the the whole light colored furniture for a long time too because of my men (both young and old) and my dogs. But then I decided. Hey, slipcovers can be washed any time I want!!!

Hahahaha... our Dion would LOVE that dog food placemat.
Love the white plate, whatever it is. It might be for escargot, because they are served in little hollows, and usually have melted butter to dip them into.
Or, meatballs, with marinara sauce in the middle.
Or, teeny cocktail wieners with mustard in the middle.
Or, Pringles, one in each hollow, with onion dip in the middle.
Or -- deviled eggs? Sorry couldn't resist.
But really, my vote's for escargot, which means that you can use it for ANYTHING because NO ONE serves escargot at home. Well, at least, I don't think so.
Glad someone else admits to not getting all the plants in the ground. I have a sad, sad petunia languishing in a teensy pot.

Love your hooks!
You asked me how far my new home is from where I currently live. It is about 45 minutes away. You asked why I sold my current home and am moving....there are several reasons. 1. My husband travels for work a couple of times a week, about 2 hours away. This move will save him 45 minutes each way. 2. We live WAY out in the country now. Far from entertainment, hospitals, doctors, grocery stores, etc and we felt we needed to be closer to the hospitals and grocery stores. 3. Most of the things we do for fun, art galleries, antiquing, shows, entertainment, hiking, socializing etc are where we are moving too. So there you have it. The reasons for the move.

That placemat is so funny! I know that's what Buddy thinks of his food because he eats it as a last resort if we don't give him anything good from the table. Yes, I admit it. We feed him sometimes. Basically only vegetables. Tonight it was green beans. Freshly steamed green beans. Much better than his dry dog food.
