Ha that is too funny. The dog food mat I mean. Our dog is really excited because when they left for the cabin on Sunday the pet food place was closed and my husband had to buy her some food at the grocery store. She got something new to her. Not the usual dry crap. New dry crap. Most years I end the season with some dead plants that never found their way into the good earth.
This year is it was 2 hydrangeas. Oooops.
I do think your tray is for eggs but for boiled ones at breakfast. Then you can toss the shells into the center well. ;-)

You're so funny! Silly girl today for sure. I like fun gals though. I like your finds. Not sure what that one thing is. Oh, and wanted to tell ya (couldn't find your email) that one day you commented about Carpenter Robert being my hubby. Not! He's 11 years my junior. I'm married to a psychiatrist who barely knows which end of the hammer to use!

I totally want that dog mat! It's GREAT!

I am very jealous of the world's longest yard sale journey. I've always wanted to check it out...it needs to grow a bit longer and towards the northeast. :-) I think that dish *may* be an oyster dish? But I hear you...I have no idea what the well in the center would hold. The shells? Hmmm...

Hope you're doing well! Where oh where is the summer going...

You really found some neat things at the yard sale. I like your idea to use the dish for oysters with a sauce, it makes as much sense as anything I could come up with! So glad you found Claire's blog, don't you just LOVE her??? And 70 degree weather - I am just green with envy. Talked to an old high school friend the other night who lives in Chicago, we were trying to figure out a way to split the difference in our temps, but couldn't come up with anything! We'd be millionaires I tell you. Have a great week. Hugs, Kat

I don't know what it is, but is sure is pretty. It looks like lusterware from the photo. I would have a succulent stuck in the center so fast..ha ha, I have been sticking them everywhere, giddy on the prospect of new possibilities. Okay, so it doesn't take much to amuse me these days, but that's a good thing. I will wave to you on Friday as I fly over Chicagoland. I would take the dog, but if I have to use a wheelchair, it would be too much to ask the attendant to carry the dog too!.

Thanks Janie. I count on you to bring me a smile. You may not know this, but it is true.

I am going to take lots of photos. I can't wait to see what you do at Marty's the cloche party.

You did get your towels, didn't you? You may have told me and I have forgotten. I tried to follow up with everyone. I don't want anyone to be disappointed because they didn't come and not tell me. Thanks for your visit today and the nice comment. I love your purchases and the sale. Did you do the Ohio part?

I've always thought the longest yard sale looked like such fun! No addreses to find, no signs to look for, just get on that road and go!

Since I'v barely ever been out of California I'll have to sit here checking out craigs list and being envious.

The white dish is lovely. That well in the middle is a puzzle to me too. The hooks are fabulous, perfect for a fluffy white robe!

such lovely things! i love that white dish - whatever it is. my guess would be you are right, it is an oyster, or perhaps clams on the half shell dish, with sauce in the center. maybe ice could also go in the center to keep the entire dish cold. but it is very pretty, however you decide to use it.

You have an eye for pretty things! I loved those big hooks! They look ancient, and remind me of the 100 year old hooks we had in our 100 year old ancestral home at my parents place.

Hello Janie... I would say your so called "deviled egg plate" is really a vintage doggie treat dish meant to hold doggie biscuits around the edges and water in the middle to wash down the biscuits! Milo and Layla emailed me and said they would prefer that one!...

Jane! How are you? It seems like it's been a long while since I've visited. I'm still trying to get into the swing of things. I hope your summer has been wonderful. Ours went by rather quickly and my boys and I are celebrating the last week of their summer. My girls still have a whole month left before regular classes at their respectful colleges begin, although my step daughter began at the JC just this week. I absoltely adore the pic of our sweet furbabies. I'd blow that up and frame it. It's priceless. I can't help but wonder if M has slept with L again. lol!
Well, enjoy your day and see you soon!

I have an egg plate with an odd divided rectangular section in the middle. Maybe the same designer created yours after eating eggs tainted with a strong hallucinogenic. Mine could be for cubist chickens laying a few rectangular eggs to be deviled, and yours could be for one half of an ostrich egg. :)

You could use it for serving different foods such as eggs (oops sorry, you didn't want to hear that!) oysters, clams etc., and set a bowl of saucy sauce in the hole......HOWEVER, how many times do we plain folks eat those things at home!!!!

How about keeping earrings in it with a little plant, ivy perhaps, tehe!! in the middle!

Great vintage looking hooks - never can have too many of those.

Love the dogs resting together - can they read their new mat!!!?

Glad you are enjoying such nice temps. Jane - hoping it will get cooler here soon, meanwhile please bike a few miles for me!
Hugs - Mary.

Glad you liked that Santa. There are many, many more to come. Lol.
Yes unpeeled eggs at breakfast because they are hot. The shell helps to keep them hot until they are eaten. As for the raw egg just put in one. Kind of like a game. Who is the lucky one who gets it?

I like the idea of it being a dish to serve mussels or oysters in the half shell, and you could put your horsey cocktail sauce in the middle, or crackers or something.

Jane, I hope you did not decide against New Mexico based on my silly post today, those were very tongue in cheek "out-takes" of our trip. The kind you usually think why did we take that picture? and I thought it would be funny. I didn't think anyone would take me seriously. New Mexico is a beautiful place and there was so much to see and do. We love it and would go back!

Hallo ,
I want to first thank you for the reaction on my blogpost!

Well, an outbuilding is a building that is built in the back (garden) of your house. In Belgium a lot of people have it.
It's meant to use for barbecueing or as a poolhouse or as a stydyroom,... any function you want to give to it.

The outbuilding on my blog is indeed on our property and we gonna use it for barbecueing when the weather is a bit chilly and also for protecting our plants in pots against the freezing weather in winter.

I understand not so well your words: ...blogs for Three. Can you explain that to me?

Thank you very much!
Warmthly,

Greet

What fun finds you have - and we love your oyster dish...perhaps it's just for a fresh flower display that is to be surrounded by oysters....ya, that's it!!
Have a lovely weekend...

Hi Blondie,
Thanks for visiting Normandy today, we put our boiled eggs in egg cups when we eat them but I don't have egg cups wirh roosters on so left them out of the tablescape!! Is that cheating?? LOL.
I love your dog mat, must try and find one for Ben, my cocker spaniel.
And......I think that your dish is an oyster server, how about lemon quarters in the centre ready for squeezing over the oysters?

Hi Blondie! OMG. My DH and I want to spend our next vacation traveling through that longest yard sale!!! We say we are going to go every year but never do! Is it wonderful??

I avoided the the whole light colored furniture for a long time too because of my men (both young and old) and my dogs. But then I decided. Hey, slipcovers can be washed any time I want!!!

Hahahaha... our Dion would LOVE that dog food placemat.

Love the white plate, whatever it is. It might be for escargot, because they are served in little hollows, and usually have melted butter to dip them into.

Or, meatballs, with marinara sauce in the middle.

Or, teeny cocktail wieners with mustard in the middle.

Or, Pringles, one in each hollow, with onion dip in the middle.

Or -- deviled eggs? Sorry couldn't resist.

But really, my vote's for escargot, which means that you can use it for ANYTHING because NO ONE serves escargot at home. Well, at least, I don't think so.

Glad someone else admits to not getting all the plants in the ground. I have a sad, sad petunia languishing in a teensy pot.

Best... Cass

Love your hooks!

You asked me how far my new home is from where I currently live. It is about 45 minutes away. You asked why I sold my current home and am moving....there are several reasons. 1. My husband travels for work a couple of times a week, about 2 hours away. This move will save him 45 minutes each way. 2. We live WAY out in the country now. Far from entertainment, hospitals, doctors, grocery stores, etc and we felt we needed to be closer to the hospitals and grocery stores. 3. Most of the things we do for fun, art galleries, antiquing, shows, entertainment, hiking, socializing etc are where we are moving too. So there you have it. The reasons for the move.
Hugs,
Penny

That placemat is so funny! I know that's what Buddy thinks of his food because he eats it as a last resort if we don't give him anything good from the table. Yes, I admit it. We feed him sometimes. Basically only vegetables. Tonight it was green beans. Freshly steamed green beans. Much better than his dry dog food.
