oh Jane I was alll ready to ave on about the beautiful meal , table and cheese cake fluff ( wink wink ) lol, looked wonderful, all of it then oh my gosh the earth shattering news about you dear little one. Our dog had a cancerous tumor removed from his head, he went on to live five years to the age of 15, maybe this will be the way for your little pal as well, our dog Buck had numerous health issues but survived them all to an old age, cost us a small fortune lol, but he was family!I will keep him in my prayers for sure!
Your desserts look wonderful, Jane...even the cheesecake fluff! I'm glad you all had such a great time together! That's what holidays are all about, right? I'm sorry about Milo. Our Bella has seizures, also. She is on medication, and it helps the symptoms. We will keep treating them until it becomes too much for her. That is as far as I can "think" right now. Have a great week!! Debbie xo
First off, the table looks wonderful and actually, I love it when someone can use their things in a new and interesting way. Second, I love butt buns and am going to take the name to our Thanksgiving dinner. Third, our dogs are our lives, especially when our kids don't need us quite so much. My little Truman recently had abdominal surgery. Broke my heart to see him in pain and wearing that silly cone. He's better. I'll pray for your dogson.
Jane - so sorry about Milo! Our pets are so much a part of our family that it hurts terribly when something is wrong. Think positive thoughts and they can do so much now in the vet field of medicine. Praying for you Both!
Looks like you had a wonderful Easter with family. What precious time and memories.
Hi Jane, I'm sending big positive thoughts out to the universe for Milo. He's a sweetie. I loved your table, those napkin rings are so perfect. Had to laugh over your dessert, I bet it was tasty though! Enjoy your week xx Nancy
First, the happy stuff. Your Easter sounded like it was a happy, fun-filled occasion. Love your new recipes, the cheesecake fluff! Too funny. But oh my gosh, when I read about Milo...tears filled my eyes and I actually said, "Oh, no!" out loud. I can't believe he has a cancerous tumor (on top of having seizures). Poor little pup. And poor you. I am so sorry. I will say a prayer for Milo - and for you too, of course. {{hugs}}
Oh honey--I was all--getting ready to tell you how only you could turn a "disaster-cheesecake" into a wonderful "new dessert", and how absolutely cute the bunnies were..and how awesome your children must know you are to do all this preparation so filled with love just for them. (Minus the Led Zeppelin, of course--for Easter, no less??!) ;) Then, I read about Milo--and being an animal lover myself, I couldn't get that out of my mind! Jane, I'll be praying for that dear, sweet fur-baby of yours---and for you all--I know he will be well taken care of. Taking care of all your family is what you do best, I believe.!
You are an awesome homemaker and cook, as well as mom.wife/Grammie---and yes, even cyber-friend. You inspire me to rise above little things and try to make tomorrow a better day! You give me much needed thoughts from a different perspective when I need it.-You just want the best for all people--no matter who or where they are. I'm so glad Easter was a wonderful day for you--however tiring, I know it was another memory to tuck away. You're really a wonderful girl, Jane! Don't you forget it. <3
Jane, you know just how to cook everything, and I'm just in awe of you. I don't have the faintest idea how to do half of what you do in the kitchen. I'm so sorry about Milo. I sure hope this can be taken care of. I know how frightened you must be. You're such a good pet mama. Take it one day at a time, all you can do. Brenda
Jane your Easter celebrations looked fab. So pretty and such a lot of work you put in. So sorry to hear about Milo. I will pray you and he have a good outcome and he gets well soon. Your Easter sounds like it was just wonderful, your menu sounds delicious. I am so sorry to hear about poor little Milo. Hopefully the surgery will be a success and his recuperation fast. I will say a prayer for him to St. Francis of Assisi. xo
So sorry about little Milo...hopefully surgery will get all the cancer cells. Did the doctor say whether the seizures were related to the cancerous tumor? Sounds like you had a very successful Easter holiday. Love that you thought fast enough to name your disaster Cheesecake Fluff! Have a great dinner tonight.
All your food pictures look great, Jane! I don't think that dessert was a disaster. If everyone was raving about it, I would call it a success! I have to tell you it looks pretty good, but presentation is not that important to me. : )
It sounds like you all had a great time. And, hey, it's not a holiday if you don't have some kind of argument with the hubby. That's how I look at it anyway. : )
Jane, Your table looked so pretty. Sorry about Milo I know you must be so worried. It is so hard when they get older and start to have so many issues. My daughter just lost her 5 year old doxie last week so it is so hard and it hits me at different times too. Hugs, Kris

I know how Milo's illness must be weighing on your mind. You're doing all that can be done,, and there's so many advancements in medicine that this very well could have a happy outcome.
I see you think quickly on your feet...cheesecake fluff! Love it, and maybe it won't win a blue ribbon for presentation, but I'm sure it was delish! In fact, I know it was because everyone was scarfing it up
Hi there cutie! Can't believe how similar our Easter's were .. I had a chocolate cake disaster and couldn't decide which music I wanted to play because the entire dinner was a tribute to my Mother. Ended up playing classic 50s music that I grew up listening and dancing to. Ham, Mother's potato salad, her fresh fruit Jell-O salad, marinated tomatoes/cucumbers (my Dad's recipe)and cheesy biscuits. We were going to have an Easter Egg hunt in our town home back yard common area ~~ but it snowed!!! Just fluffy flakes.
Your table and decorations are stunning, the almond bark I could reach into my monitor and eat!!
Aww, Jane, I'm sorry for Milo, and will say a prayer for him (and you!). Your Easter looked terrific - such a cute dessert bar! And I laughed out loud at what you called your disaster but I loved your cover - "fluff" - and I am sure it was awesome. I don't think I've ever tasted a bad cheesecake. Enjoy the nice days coming with your family and fur babies.
I'll say prayers for Milo, I completely understand! I love your centerpiece and how neat that it's for Christmas and you still used it, totally what I'd do too!
Oh Jane I'm sorry to hear about Milo but I'm sure he'll pull through all this just fine!! He has a mama that's going to spoil him with love! Your Easter table looked beautiful!
Jane, your table is gorgeous. I like the way you mixed it up alternating the plates and cute napkin rings. The deserts look yummy! I know your family had a terrific time celebrating together. Will be thinking positive thoughts for Milo. ;-) Hugs sent your way, dear friend!
Everything looks so good, Jane, even the cheesecake! I had one of those "fails," too......some lemon scones that I made for breakfast on Sunday were as hard as rocks. I either did something very wrong or Martha Stewart let me down!😩 I'll bet the young crowd really liked those cupcake cuties!
It all looks so lovely!! I think I will make some of that almond bark tomorrow! I bet the quads would love that!! I am so sorry to hear about your Milo- I know you are heart sick with worry for him!
Your celebration looks like so much fun. I love my family, but sometimes I wish it was larger. We were just the 2 of us for Easter. Next year I am crashing your party!
Jane, I think your Easter table looked charming and pretty. Love those napkin rings. Don't get me started over your cupcakes....I so think they were absolutely adorable. I so wish I could of eaten one! Smiled at your menu because the Mac and Cheese I would of pigged out on and think the butt buns is way too cute an idea. Cheesecake fluff you know everyone's gonna ask you to make that again. I once had a disaster with a springform pan too. I enjoy music playing and we usually put on a mellow Jazz in the background. But seriously guests really don't notice it once the laughter and conversation with drinks start to flow. Jane I am so sorry for poor Milo. I hope you will try out the drops to improve his quality of enjoyment. Like I wrote you Max is responding very well with a holistic approach. Love ya sweet friend, Vera
Sounds like the arguments we have at my house. I don't like R&B & soul for the most part, I'm not a huge rock fan, he's not a pop fan for the most part & nobody but me & brother like rap. LOL. We seem to serve the same things too - ham, potato salad, cole slaw, roast, dirty rice & rolls. When I was a kid if we went to the mall we'd always eat at Piccadilly. Not sure if you've heard of it but it's like Luby's - cafeteria style - I LOVED IT. My most favorite thing was their cheesecake with cherries on top. I haven't had that in years. Poor poor little Milo. I'll be praying.

Hi Jane, I am so sorry to read about Milo. My Coco has seizures through Syringomyelia and it breaks my heart when she suffers but the medication helps. I had to smile when you admitted to the cheesecake! We have a dessert over here called Eton Mess which is basically a meringue, strawberries and cream which many years ago was dropped... and from then on it became a popular dessert. You never know, you may have started a new craze :-) Take care my lovely xx
Blondie, It breaks my heart for you and your family about your Milo. So sad. You are a very good cook...everything you made looks so tasty. Love the rabbit plates. When you cry, I wish you a long distance hug. Blessings to you and your family, xoxo,Susie
Saying lots of healing prayers for sweet Milo. That's got to be so hard on you, but it sounds like you're doing everything you can to help him. Sending you tons of hugs too. :) It's funny, as soon as I scrolled down and saw your "cheesecake fluff" I thought to myself "Oh, that looks good!" It didn't register as a disaster at all! Yum!
Hi Jane, Your Easter dinner was amazing. Beautiful tablescape, chalkboard menu, LOTS of delicious food and FAMILY. Your almond bark looks great! I am so sorry about Milo. I'm praying for him to regain his health. I know he is much-loved. My best to you, Beth
Next Easter invite me please. :-) Everything looks just wonderful. I love how you saved dessert. The Easter Bark looks like something my boys would love. I will have to make this for a fun surprise. And Happy Birthday to your beautiful girl. Prayers and love for Milo. Carla
You are a fabulous cook! Love the save you made on the "cheesecake fluff". :) And I wish I had a handful of the almond bark right now. I'm sorry about your little Milo. I do hope they can help him. I'll say a prayer for him, and you too.
Dear Jane, I am glad that you have the comfort and support of a loving family near you. Your Easter sounds heavenly and the food and table was just wonderful. I have two sisters and an aunt in Florida...so family is pretty much gone now. I just went through an emotional thing with my friend taking her dog to the vet Monday to look at what she thought was a fatty tumor on Chloe's tail and it was cancer, too. So everyone who knows Chloe is upset and having just finding this out this week, I have so much empathy for you. My friend doesn't have the money for the amputation and then chemo and radiation. Upsetting. I hope your pup can get through this. He looks as fit as a fiddle. If he is strong he can fight it. New things are just around the corner for fighting cancer. I've been reading about so many breakthroughs.Best wishes and love to a beautiful person. Ginene
Hi Jane, The menu looks so good!! You are always into detail and the table and the food looked so perfect!!!everything will work out for Milo... Hugs, Jody
everything looks great, jane:) bailey had seizures when she was a puppy. a friend told me to stop using febreze on everything. i stopped and she hasn't had another seizure since. hugs to your baby:)
Your Easter table looked fantastic. I love the bunny pics. I couldn't resist all those little bakery décor items either and still have some left over. Prayers for little Milo. I have an old dog that is beginning to face health issues. I feel your pain but pray that once they remove the tumor he will be just fine and live a long life.
First of all your table is lovely and the cheesecake fluff looks divine. I love cheesecake in any form. So sorry about Milo and I will be praying for your furbaby. Hope the tumor is contained and they can just remove it. Good to hear you have things emerging from the ground ...I was so happy when things started growing here again! Sending happy thoughts to you and Milo!
What a lovely spread Jane! You really created a feast for your family and I sure hope they appreciate it. And I could eat that cheesecake so quickly.yum! Sorry about your beloved dog. I am going to email you too. Hugs friend, Cindy

[Image]We had a really wonderful Easter and the weather couldn't have been better, I think you'll be able to tell by the lighting in these pictures. The Husband and I sat having a cocktail before the family arrived and I remarked that I simply couldn't remember a recent Easter that wasn't just warm and sunny and well, perfect. I did all my baking and make-ahead dishes on Saturday, which is why The Husband and I had some time to relax and argue over what sort of music to have on. He wanted Classic Rock (Uh, Led Zeppelin, anyone?). I wanted R&B/Soul. We ended up with Pop Hits. No one noticed.
I set my table the night before. The only flowers I bought were just one bouquet of tulips...I knew every surface would be used for appetizers and drinks. So I jazzed up this hurricane with some real lily's which were part of an old bouquet, for a centerpiece. I just snipped the stems off and stuck them into the existing greenery (if you look close, it's pinecones and berries, this is a Christmas decoration and I just switch the candle out to use it year round). Some random eggs and candles finished things off.
[Image]I alternated clear salad plates with the little bunny plates from Pier 1 that I shared in this post. I used different types of napkin rings, these gold bunnies and...
[Image]...these little eggs in a nest.
[Image]I mentioned here that I was going to try my hand at a "signature" drink. I found a recipe for a Sunlight Sangria, I think in a Williams Sonoma catalog. The recipe was included in that post. It was really, really good and we made three batches of it (that's reeeeeally good!). Most people thought the tequila was a bit too much and that I should hold back a bit more on the lime, otherwise they were a hit and I promised to make them again. I broke down and bought a glass dispenser with a spout from Target. Good investment.
[Image]Everything we serve is pretty much the same from year to year and I like that so much can be made ahead of time. This year I had two different types of tossed salad; a classic Caesar, and a strawberry/blue cheese/walnut. I think it added a nice springtime vibe. And I blanched the asparagus the night before and then tied up small bundles with strips of puff pastry. They baked with the rolls and were so cute! And we call the rolls here "Butt Buns" because they have a little seam running down the middle and well, my kids thought that was so funny when they were little. ;-)
[Image]I love looking at all the cute items in the baking aisles at stores like Michael's, etc. I found these little picks and thought the younger kids would get a kick out of them. I made vanilla cupcakes with a buttercream frosting I tinted. I toasted about 1 cup of coconut to make little nests and there you have it. I added mini chocolate eggs to the ones with chicks. Can you see the little taffeta skirts on the bunnies? :)
[Image]The kitchen island was the dessert table. We had quite a spread. I didn't get pics before everyone dived in though.
[Image]The day before I made almond bark...I think it took about 5 minutes. Just melt it and spread it out on parchment paper. Then sprinkle on whatever you'd like. I did pastel M&M's, crumbled Oreo cookies, and simple sprinkles. Chill for a half hour and break into pieces. Yum!
[Image]And of course there had to be a disaster. I tried a new cheesecake recipe and used my springform pan. I think the graham cracker crust simply over-baked because I couldn't get it out of the pan for the life of me. I even tried to lift it with a spatula. Finally I simply scooped it out on to a plate and poured a can of cherries over it. My niece was standing in front of the dessert table and politely asked, "Uh...what is this?" And I just blurted out, "Cheesecake Fluff", and before I knew it everyone was putting spoonfuls on their plates and raving over it! Ha! A new recipe!
Yesterday I worked in the kitchen for three straight hours washing things by hand and running two loads in the dishwasher. I don't know if it was the cocktails, but everyone was laughing and talking well up to 9:00 p.m. (we started at 2:30). I just didn't want to spoil the fun with a major clean up. I still have things soaking.
[Image]I took this picture of Milo the other day...he looks like a puppy here. I had him at the vet Friday to get the blood tests so we could start the seizure meds, we decided to take that route. I mentioned to Dr. B. that a fatty tumor on Milo's left hip had gotten bigger, it's the size of a golf ball. He aspirated it and well, it's cancerous. I felt like I had the wind knocked out of me. To go in for one thing that you think is pretty bad and then come out with something totally different and life altering. I've been weepy here and there, I say weepy because it hits me at the oddest times and I have to pull myself together. And I pray. A lot. I know the drill. So he'll start the phenobarbital tomorrow, which the doctor says will making him dopey for about two weeks until he builds up a resistance to those side affects. And then we can have the tumor removed and whatever else needs to be done in a few weeks. What more can I say? My eyes are filling with tears right now (and this started out as such a happy post!). Sorry guys. He's such a good dog...say a prayer.
I want to get out to take some pics of all the bulbs I have sprouting...it rained last night and everything has turned such a bright vibrant green, so pretty. Today is Abigail's birthday so we are having dinner downtown near her house. She wants me to call it a house, not an apartment. :) We're going to a new place called Tango Sur...sounds interesting.
I hope all of you had a wonderful Easter and are off to a great week.

Jane, your table is gorgeous. I like the way you mixed it up alternating the plates and cute napkin rings. The deserts look yummy! I know your family had a terrific time celebrating together. Will be thinking positive thoughts for Milo. ;-)
Hugs sent your way, dear friend!

April 7, 2015 at 9:58 PM
It all looks so lovely!!
I think I will make some of that almond bark tomorrow! I bet the quads would love that!!
I am so sorry to hear about your Milo- I know you are heart sick with worry for him!

Your celebration looks like so much fun. I love my family, but sometimes I wish it was larger. We were just the 2 of us for Easter. Next year I am crashing your party!

Jane,
I think your Easter table looked charming and pretty.
Love ya sweet friend,
Vera

Yum!

You are a fabulous cook! Love the save you made on the "cheesecake fluff". :) And I wish I had a handful of the almond bark right now.
I'm sorry about your little Milo. I do hope they can help him. I'll say a prayer for him, and you too.

Dear Jane,
I am glad that you have the comfort and support of a loving family near you. Ginene

Your Easter sounds perfect! Love the cheesecake fluff!
I'm so sad and just so sorry about Milo, heartbreaking.
