Your lakehouse is so nice! Your flowers look great and the bean hyacinth will get purple flowers on them, I think they also have purple type beans too! Or perhaps the beans turn into the bloom. I had these years ago and I forget.
Sounds like a wonderful weekend to me with friends too!
Oh girl, you are really making everything looks beautiful! Love your husband's resting spot:) Have a blessed week and yet another happy weekend ahead! HUGS!
Your place is looking so pretty... and it's neat that your husband is enjoying it just as much much as you are. Y'all are creating a very special world there! Blessings! Geneva
Hi Jane, Your garden is looking lovely. I wish Mr. Sissie would take an interest in gardening but he's too busy on the golf course greens! LOL! One year I planted lambs ear and it took over the entire garden. I liked to never got rid of it. Better keep an eye on it because it spreads like wild fire. I love hearing about your lovely lake house.
It sounds like you had a great weekend, Jane! Getting all the fluffing and cleaning out of the way, you'll both be able to just relax when you go up there.
Everything looks great Jane!... how cute your hubby hidden behind the palms with his cigar!... your Oregano looks like it is doing really well... do you dry some of it too besides using it fresh?... sounds like you had a nice time at the lake... it it sooo hot here today, 90 degree plus and Tessy and I are inside this afternoon doing nothing, which is strange for me as I am usually going warp speed... xoxo Julie Marie
Glad to see A was helping out with the plants etc., it all looking fabulous Jane. Doesn't it feel great to sit down at the end of a day gardening and admire the fruits of all that labor........especially with a nice glass of wine in hand, lol!
Thanks dear for the good wishes for our upcoming safari trip - not long and we'll be on our way! May not be able to post over there, and if that's the case I'll save the stories for my return.
Your lake house looks ready for someone to move in. Your next visit, the flowers will be all in bloom and waiting for you, Jane! I love that lantern on your table, it's so pretty. Enjoy!! xxoo
Hi Jane, It sounds like it was a wonderful weekend full of accomplishments and relaxation! I would love to have a lake house to play around with...lucky you!
Hi Jane, I will be looking forward to watching your flowers grow. I would love to sit outside and enjoy the view of your lake. We have been so hot the last couple of days, but Saturday wasn't to bad. Have a great week. Hugs from Your Missouri Friend.
I wonder what the epsom salts do...i might have to google that. I love gardening and having the herbs next to your kitchen for easy snipping is great. Good to have a gardener for a hubby.
It is funny that you are just planting tomatoes and we have been harvesting ours for several weeks. You will enjoy your hyacinth bean-it has beautiful flowers. Be sure and let a few blooms go to seed and save them.
O, my goodness, Blondie, how blessed you are to have a summer lake house. I would LOOOOVE having a second home to escape to every now and then. We should have bought one years ago but......didn't. So glad you have one. Everything sure is looking pretty. You do seem to have a green thumb. Enjoy....
I bet it is so much fun (and some work) to go and get the lakehouse ready for the season. You get to anticipate all the long days of summer relaxing and enjoying yourself.
Looks like you have been busy..along with your hubbie..how nice to have garden help! I need mine to cut down some saplings in my shrub border! Love your blue glider!! Such a great spot to relax!! Enjoy!! Miss Bloomers
WOW, what energy. I wish I did a fraction of that here. We are having LOTS of rain and the weed population is EXPLODING! I love all your edibles, YUMMMMY! Everything looks so beautiful, You deserve a good rest too... Have a fun week, Hugs, Donna
How sweet that he wanted to help. Doesn't it just make you happy when they want to help with a project you usually do yourself. My mr. helped with painting this past winter and it just made the time go by faster.
What wonderful things you planted! Everything looks so beautiful and charming too. After planting mine this year I could barely move - I needed a masage desperately! Guess I hadn't sat on the ground in that position for a year and the muscles didn't like it! Everything sounds so fun - we need to have friends over for a BBQ!
I am always delighted to find a fellow blogger from Illinois. You have a very nice blog! I am your latest follower. I hope you will come and visit my blog.
Your garden looks so beautiful! What a wonderful place to relax and enjoy all your hard work. Can't wait to see more. Thanks for stopping by with your inspiring comment. I'm following you too! Have a fun weekend.
You have such a beautiful garden! Your place looks like a vacation retreat! Just gorgeous.
Sweet Peas do not like the heat, We get in the 100's here but they make a wonderful Spring flower. Plant the seeds in the Fall (be sure to nick or soak the seeds overnight for easier germination). After you plant them once, they will reseed themselves if you leave them dry up in the garden before removing the dead plant. Or you can collect the seeds from the pods yourself. Mine just finished and are going to seed, just to give you an idea of the time frame. So while they don't do well in the Summer they are great for the Spring garden. And their sweet scent is amazing. I like to pcik the flowers for sweet little bouquets ♥
How sweet that your hubby wanted to plant..my husband is the hole digger and compost hauler, too. Your flats of plants look so good. I love buying flowers in flats so I have lots of the same kind. Happy times at the lake. :)
A fun productive week-end for sure ~ it is instant gratification when you can actually see what you have accomplished. Everything looks great Janie ~ before long you will be able to just sit back and enjoy. xo
Wow it was a big weekend in the garden Jane, but all your efforts will obviously reap beautiful results. It must be fun seeing the lake house 'wake up' for summer again. x
I don't know how you do it all, Jane! I have trouble enough just keeping this house and garden presentable, and you do it with two and a guest house - you are amazing. Everything is looking so pretty by the lake - keep on having fun!
The Lake house is lookin' good Jane! Your flowers are going to be blooming in no time....love the tip about epson salt....looked it up ~ and now I'll try that as well (thanks!!) Wishing you a fun weekend up there....no work this time...just relax!
Love it! So many pretty flowers and plants...makes me happy to see them. I think it just looks so peaceful. Love the chimenea too!

[Image]It was a weekend of gardening at the lake. The Husband and I worked right up until we came home last night. I found it to be so cute when he asked if he could plant a few pots. He is usually my "Master hole digger and weeder", but I obliged! I bought my plants and flowers here in Illinois. Although I pay more, the selection is greater. We went up Friday night so we were ready to work early Saturday morning.
[Image]You can see him through the palm trees, taking a break with a cigar! He did work so hard, cleaned up the beach so we are ready for a the load of new sand next weekend. Days were in the 70's but it got cold at night and we had the little chimnea cranked up!
[Image]I was hoping to have more blooms on the climbing rose, lots of buds though and our daisies are ready to become a mass of flowers any day now. Aren't they healthy? The husband sprinkles and waters epsom salts on everything, a tip he learned from our farm center. I really think it works.
[Image]My oregano has taken over the herb garden...
[Image]...but I got my tomatoes planted.
[Image]I threw in some lavender as well and see the lambs ear in the back ground? It's popping up all over and I never planted it!
[Image]Remember this stake from last year? It still makes me giggle every time I look at it! That's my weird sense of humor!
[Image]In this tall cone shaped trellis, I am growing a hyacinth bean plant. Is anyone familiar with it? It is supposed to climb and get purple flowers on it. I'm excited to see what happens.
[Image]Some geraniums on the path to the beach.
[Image]I was so excited to see some wrens building a nest in my little birdhouse! They are darling and so fun to watch!
[Image]The Husband got his palms repotted last weekend. This is his favorite place to sit when he is relaxing.
[Image]I pulled some decorative accessories out of my stash to dress everything up. The guest house (Summerhouse) is there in the background. I have yet to get in there and clean it out. And I still have the front yard and porch to work on. But I have to say, I got my exercise! Of course we relaxed, neighbors visited and we cooked out for the first time this summer. It really was a great weekend. I'm joining in with Tracie's Garden Party at Fishtail Cottage! See you soon! :)
