everything looks lovely! I love the stork theme too, what a lovely lunch you made , I'm so glad everything turned out beautifully, I knew it would, now you can relax,
You had a full house. The food looks great. I like how you don't have all those generic decorations. Love tha bab scales. Just rest . You worked hard, take a day off. Hugs I love the name Elsie.
Looks like a huge success! The food looks so good! And yes, that scale really was a great find. I would think you'd have to recover after such an event!
….it can't be all gone! I have my glassine bag at the ready to fill - just waiting for a private jet to whisk me from the cottage to your lovely home Jane! Oh well, last thing I really need is something with sugar - but it all looked so amazing.
You did a wonderful job - that precious baby must already know how you are all so excited about her arrival!
Oh Jane, what a great party! I counted 18 in the photo - my kind of party, for sure! I hosted a children's book-themed baby shower for my niece a year ago (Feb, I blogged on it), and did most of it myself. Your food and bar looked absolutely wonderful - I love the festive look of the mozzarella /rosemary, and the mimosa bar - yum! As for January - my sister posted on FB: January is the Monday of the months." Oh yea, I really do not like January at ALL, but my hubby's and bff's b'days are at the end of the month, so I have to play nice around them. Plus, it's always tax work looming for me - just mine and the kids', but those are enough to keep me on my tax-tapping toes, believe me! We're dissolving my husband's corporation as of 2014 and that makes my head spin a bit. Enjoy your time being lazy - you've worked hard, and you'll start feeling guilty enough as you read all these blogs anyway that they'll get you up and moving soon enough. XO Rita
What a wonderful get together! Looks like so much fun welcoming the new grandbaby. Have they got a name picked out yet? What is your "grandmother" name going to be?
This looks just wonderful, Jane! I love the stork theme and everything looks DELICIOUS! Never worry about the little snafus...no one ever notices and it's what you laugh about later!
It sure looks like you did a wonderful job and that everyone was having a great time Jane! It's so much work to put on a shower and I imagine you are pooped about now. I hope you have your feet up and can feel me patting you on the back for a job well done sweetie. sending hugs...
Oh sweet Jane how precious the photos will become attached to the memories. What is a party without a hiccup or two??? You welcomed people and shared from the heart, nothing is more meaningful. A new baby Grand nothing better than that. Sending love, Vera
Wonderful! I new it would fun and beautiful! I love all the details and that stork scale is just soo perfect!!! Congratulations for a great party and to the mom-to-be!!!!Yehey!
Blondie, Your menu looked great. I think everyone look very happy, so it must have been a success. I do love that stork scale. Too cute. You chose rightly by staying home. Too darn nasty out there. Blessings to all, xoxo,Susie p.s. hope your dog is better.
Simple sugar cookies are the best kind of cookie! I agree that a house shower lends itself to more mingling than at a hall or restaurant. Glad it was a success Jane!
It sounds like the shower was a success, Jane! Your food display looks wonderful and I love how that scale worked into it all. That was really a great find. You will be in heaven when that little granddaughter arrives! I was just over the moon and felt a happiness I don't think I ever felt before when she was born. It was amazing. At 4 1/2 she is so much fun. She was over this past week and we played dress up (well, she dressed up in my clothes and high heels!).
Oh, you socked this out of the ball park! Love all the goodies you served, and your tables looked great. Way to go, my friend, and thank you so much for the links to the recipes. I am very excited about that. And loved the pictures of the family and guests.
I am really happy for you and can't wait for your little grandgirl to be born. You are going to have such fun! :-)
Beautiful Baby Shower production! The food looks delicious, drinks tasty and the NEW Mama to be... PRECIOUS! Enjoy a little rest! I am in the midst of a few projects too:) HUGS!
Oh, it all looks terrific, Jane. I know how much effort goes into making all those pretty pick up goodies. Love the scale. What a great find! Congratulations on the new family member.
Hi Jane, The food looks delicious - and pretty - magazine worthy! You put a lot of thought into this and you made for a very nice party. Congratulations, it won't be long before you'll meet your granddaughter! :)
Jane, Looks like the shower was a great success and the food and pictures looks awesome. Love the stork scale too. You are going to love being a grandma. Congrats. Kris
Everyone looks like they were having a wonderful time...and all that food looks delicious! Sugar cookies are my favorite. Love that you used the scale as a server. Have a great week, Jane.
So happy the shower was a success! I knew it would be. So much fun peeking at the fun you ladies had. The food sounds amazing and that stork scale is perfect! Great job my friend!!! Stay warm... a pedicure would feel good about now :)
Good Morning Jane, I have enjoyed catching up with you and some more blogging friends this morning. I have watched the weather in your area especially for when our oldest flew back to Louisianan for some reason he was routed through Chicago. I have seen several pictures of your city as my daughter's friend just returned from there. I know that grandma and grandpa will spoil the little one, but hey that is what we are suppose to do. Your party looked like so much fun. Take care. Hugs and Prayers from Your Missouri friend Shirley
I knew the shower would be a success and it looks like it was! I'm totally stealing your idea of dipping sugar cookies in white chocolate and sprinkles! Genius! Love the idea of using different flavors of orange juice for mimosas too. Thanks for sharing pics!
What a great baby shower you threw for MC. she must have felt so loved by everyone. But.. so much work for you, dear Jane, no wonder you're feeling tired! Time to spoil yourself I think! Take care, love M
O, it all looks so wonderful, I just can't stand it....everyone looks so nice and friendly...the food..OMG..it all should be in Romantic Homes magazine...so so glad everything went so well. Looks like you, my sweet friend, did a bang-up job...YAY... Now gotta take a look at that Apricot ham sandwiches....
It looks like e everything came off perfectly Jane. The food looks delicious AND beautiful, and the decorations are perfect. I have to agree, a good house full of guests makes the best party!

Jane, Thanks so much for sharing all the wonderful photos of the baby shower. What a memorable day for you and the family. Everything turned out perfect!! Looking forward to the new baby's arrival. Hugs, Jody
Hi kiddo! Looks like everything came off in a smashing way, just as we thought it would. Although if that's a tiny note of self-doubt in your voice as to whether it all got done exactly as you wanted it to--well, I hope I didn't hear that. You had a lot of last minute things you couldn't do until the very last minute--and it looks like most of it got done. With most all the food and drink gone, an expert bartender "tending", an interior designer and her mentor/mom putting this thing together--how could it not have been perfect? Mary Clair looked so happy and so did her family. I hope we'll hear bits and pieces more about it soon. (Ok, if I don't, I will just grill you in an e-mail! ;) ) Yep, it's January (and it's nearly half-over, too!), and there's lots of other things to do...but baby showers are fun, and babies are fun-ner! So--breathe...rest!! "Baby, It's Cold Outside!" xx trudy
(I love your house...I always get distracted by the beautiful woodwork!)
OMGoodness! The food and drink look superb! The vintage storks are adorable and so reminiscent of the past. The event was a true labor of love with the combined effort and talent(s) of Emily, Abby and yourself!
(I have got to try your pretty strawberry cheesecakes for Chrislyn's birthday or Valentine's Day!)
MC looks wonderful! The stroller is a lovely gift. She will appreciate it so. Chrislyn uses her jogging stroller almost every day. She graduated to a double when Ben was born.
Thank you for the added effort of sharing the recipes with us! ~Lynne w/L!
Love that stork scale. Looks and sounds like everything turned out great. Sometimes we put too much pressure on ourselves to do everything just right but in the end whatever we do is more than enough. Best wishes. Tammy
Congrats on a successful party, Jane. It looks like everything was wonderful...and no leftovers to send home is a GOOD thing. Showers are always fun-especially for little girls I think. You are going to LOVE having a granddaughter! It is so much fun to spoil those little girls! xo Diana
Beautiful Jane! You did a fabulous job. Showers are fun but a lot of work too. Katie is having one next month but it's going to be at someone else's home..yeah! I guess it's a bit different with a 2nd, but since she is having a boy, she really doesn't have much that will work. Hugs friend and you deserve a break. Cindy
Jane, everything looks so good. The desserts are wonderful and the food, yum yum. So glad that everything worked out. I am sure most people didn't even realize that any mistakes were made. As long as you have drinks and food they are happy. Thanks so much for sharing the great pictures of the baby shower. Bet she got lots of wonderful gifts. Your going to love being a grandmother. Enjoy your weekend. Mary
It looks like it was beautiful! I know everyone had a fabulous time.

[Image]I wanted to start off with a pretty picture...well, they are all pretty. The shower was a success, I think. There were a few glitches but I have to chalk that up as a learning experience. I didn't feel like that at the time but...well, here's the good stuff.
I threw together the sugar cookies the night before after the Red Velvet cookie debacle. This simple and delicious recipe came from Jennifer at Town And Country Living. I used decorating sugar on some of them and the others I dipped in white chocolate and then sprinkles. Fun! These would be great for Valentine's Day.
[Image]We were trying to get pictures of the dessert table (my island) five minutes before guests arrived. Emily ordered everything through a local bakery except for my cookies and the cheesecake bites which you can see on the left (with the strawberries in the center.
[Image]Remember the stork scale we found? Still can't believe our luck and how the stork became our "theme". These tarts were almost too pretty to eat.
[Image]I was really happy with the appetizers. A lot of work and I could have planned better, but I look at these pictures and know that I put my heart and soul into making everything. My sister in law brought Fruit Kabob's, and my future daughter in law, Deirdre, made Bacon Wrapped Dates (I have to get that recipe). I think everyone really enjoyed the food and sweets. We had little glassine bags for the guests to take home anything left over and there really wasn't. That's a good thing, right? :).
[Image]Abby has experience as a bartender and waitress. She not only ran out the morning of the party and bought champagne and juice, she set up and manned the little bar area. We had the Mimosa's of course, and they were cranked up a notch with several flavors of orange juice. Mango is my favorite. I made iced tea and there was a variety of wine, but the ladies loved those Mimosa's!
[Image]We managed to pack everyone in as you can see. My Mother in law used to say she loved parties like this because everyone mingles. I think she was right.
[Image]Mary Clare opened her gifts while Emily recorded everything. My girls gave her a jogging stroller. That will be a fun thing for her to do with Elsie when the weather warms up.
[Image]I love this picture of MC with her sisters; Katie, Nora, and mom, Peggy.
[Image]I didn't want to do a picture overload so these are just some of the highlights. I thought I would get this post out right away, all of you have been so kind with your best wishes for the shower and the arrival of my granddaughter. Thank you!
I had lofty plans for today; go to the gym and get a manicure...or one or the other. I settled on neither! lol. It's 23 degrees, my car is covered in icy snow...okay, excuses. I'm just so darn lethargic today. I know I will perk up soon. I have a few projects to get done this week, mostly involving some cleaning and organizing. I wonder why January is such a popular month for that. Is it because we are housebound? Bored? That it all went out the window during the holidays? I have to say, I do get motivated seeing the magazines and blogs with their tips and solutions for everything imaginable. Maybe it's a way to make a clean slate for the year ahead. Sounds good to me.
Below is a list of the party food links. I would highly recommend everything I chose to make, nothing about the recipes is difficult, unless you want to make everything at once as I did! Ha!
See all of you soon!
Jane x
