What a great little house! The weather was really dreadful for a long stretch. We didn't go to our cottage last weekend because of it.

Hi Jane,
You know how much I love that little guest house! It is so charming and so well done, you have such a great eye!
I lost some flowers too and boy does that irk me.
So glad to be done with that miserable heat...I am loving this mid-80's stuff.
My list is a mile long too and now I need to go make Dan a pie for his b-day.
Hugs and tell Al hello and congrats on the fishing boat, that will be fun!
Dan loves to fish, me not so much.
Big Hugs,
Cindy

Poor Milo and Layla...first the fireworks, then the heatwave!

What a darling summer house! I have been indoors due to the record breaking heat here, and surrounded by mostly asphalt and concrete it is no joke! It is supposed to be cooler this week, although we could use some rain. xo

Your guest cottage is so sweet and pretty, Jane! Such a great idea to have those beds that hide behind the doors. I lost some plants, too, and am debating getting a few to replace them.

Just so lovely, looks so inviting...& ready for company.. : )
We were at our lake house also, for the week & boy, was it HOT. No breeze at all & no air conditioning... had to make our own breeze out on the boat. : )
We are just about finished renovating it & plan to start soon on the guest house... wondering?? Did you add the murphy beds?? Or were they there when you bought it?? We are planning to add them also. I have been looking & they seem a little pricey...

We've had that same awful weather but today it's much nicer thankfully! How fun that you found a boat too, I'm sure you'll have many fun filled hours out on the lake fishing!

Hi Jane!

Your guest house looks like a cute little play house... just adorable!

I also have lots my potted plants but might as well wait a few months before trying to replace them.

I am just about ready to put the dogs in the car and head for the beach... anywhere to get away from this oppressive heat. (It's 115 today and tomorrow it will be 117.)

Maybe I'll come visit YOU!

Now isn't that just oh so charming! I love Murphy beds -- perfect for your little summer house.

I hesitate to tell you how hot we are here. Right now at 5:15pm , it is 111*. They are predicting 115* tomorrow. I ventured out a few minutes ago to get the mail, but it wasn't worth risking 3rd degree burns....lol! I will probably stay inside again tomorrow and continue working on my quilt.

I came over to catch up on your last two posts. Your lake house looks like a great place to spend the holiday, Jane!!! LOVE the "little" house you have to escape to for reading, or just some alone time.
It finally cooled down here too. Mid 80's is sooo much better than triple digits.
Don't you wish you could slow summer down just a little bit?

Hi Jane, Your guest house looks so inviting. I know about the horrible heat that we have had. I am thankful for what rain we got yesterday and it did cool down some today. It is suppose to be cooler this week. I have had my yard mowed for three weeks and I refuse to have it watered especially since our city took over billing the sewer bill. They base it on how much water we use even if it doesn't go down it. That is another conversation. Have a great week and enjoy your trip to the lake. Hugs Your Missouri Friend.

I can imagine what it would be like to sleep with the screens and hear the sound of water lapping on the lake (in my dreams maybe?) What a fun little place to enjoy and decorate. Glad your temperatures are cooler. Ours are too, but only due to rain, which means even more humidity!

Hi Jane! Your little cottage is just darling! SO wonderful that you get some lake life! So different from here. I think YOUR heat is a little harder to take than ours. And we're used to it. Oh my heavans, Jane.
That is THE sweetest little guest cottage!

I didn't know you had that as well! What a treasure and I adore your furnishings!
Picture perfect.

You give me hope that maybe someday we will have a cottage on the lake. We go every year to the Northwoods and now that my kids are 16 and 19. I sadly think the window for having a cottage has passed.
We looked for many years but never bought.

But you are saying you found yours after your kids were grown? If so, there is hope that one day we may have a little second home! Or a full time lake home would work for me too.
LOVE the water.

Thanks for sharing your little slice of lakeside heaven, Jane.

Love the new rug from Target, it's a great focal point. I would consider removing the dried hydrangeas from the back of the toilet. I would also consider removing the magazine/toilet paper holder. They distract from your new purchases. Tuck the toilet paper out of sight and you probably don't need magazines
in the powder room. Love the new paint color, looks so much more beachy and cheerful.
