We went through the wine place as well. Sounds like you had a great week-end. Happy Anniversary.

I loved seeing all your pictures of Thanksgiving at your house (what a beautiful bunch of ladies!) and of one of my favorite places for a weekend getaway (Cedarburg). So glad you liked it! What inn did you stay at? I know it wasn't the one we've stayed at - The Stagecoach Inn - because it doesn't look familiar. Was it the Washington House Inn?
Hi Jane, read your post yesterday on my ipad but for some reason am not able to comment when I do that?? Anyway, back for a second visit today just to look once again at the lovely Inn & the delightful shops that you shared with us. Glad you had a lovely weekend. Maggie
Jane, I was so looking forward to this post! What a magical weekend for you and The Husband. I am so pleased that your shared the spirit of that sweet town with us!
IT WAS THE BEST COLLEGE FOOTBALL WEEKEND EVER! Our struggling Cougars upset the Huskies, and thank the dear Lord, The Irish defeated USC! The football added a bit of joy to a weekend of complete concern about Mom. (My Dad is a HUGE ND fan!) The Husband must be on cloud nine!
You have been such a wonderful and supporting friend through the past difficult months with my Mother.
The best of blessings to you and your family! ~Lynne w/L.
It sounds like you had a great long weekend! Happy (belated) Anniversary too! Your little get away looked like fun. I love shopping in quaint towns like that and discovering new restuarants. I'm sure staying at a cozy B&B was much more romantic than a hotel too.
I actually had a really lousy Thanksgiving weekend, so I loved living through yours. I enlarged the pictures and scrolled through them all. I'm so glad that we live in the same state, because we seem to like the same kinds of towns, foods and shopping...so, when you find a good location it is a place I can actually visit (even if it takes me about 4 extra hours). The photo of you both is really good!
I love love love that photo of you and your sweetie. So cute. Really glad you had such a great time and a great Thanksgiving. I've never stayed in a B&B or an Inn (what is the difference??) but it's on my Bucket List.:) xo bj

It sounds & looks like you had both a wonderful Thanksgiving and Anniversary, Jane!!! My dad had us all over for Thanksgiving at his house. He's so sweet. 88 years old, and so excited to have his family home for T-day! We had so much fun!!!:) I have been looking forward to cleaning and starting to decorate for Christmas too - but it will have to wait a couple more days til I'm over this silly cold! Looking forward to seeing your house all decorated for Christmas! Hugs, Zuzu
Hi, Janie... I popped over to say that I hope you had a Happy Thanksgiving, and it looks like you did! Loved seeing your pictures. We had a quiet one because I had not been feeling well while Mr. M didn't get in till late the night before. So we opted out of our traditional plans.
Loved seeing the inn in Wisconsin and all the cute shops. I would have gone crazy in that Christmas shop, and that birdhouse was SO cute. Hopefully it will be waiting for you when you go back. Happy Anniversary, BTW!
I started to leave you a comment and was in distress again because I can't see where your comment button is with this IPAD. Finally, in desperation, I clicked around and hit pay dirt! Yes! So I can comment. I tried to on a previous post and had no luck. Hopefully, I will remember where to hit next time. It's something about the color of the print versus the background color, but I made it on this time. I hope to be back to actually posting soon as I am supposed to get a real computer for Christmas. Santa, come quick!
That trip sounds wonderful. Honestly I don't know anything about Wisconsin except the Packers play there and it's famous for cheese. The town looks charming and I see you were really pampered at the inn.
Nice Thanksgiving tablescape, glad you had a great time with your family.
What a wonderful weekend celebration you had! The photo of the two of you is very nice! Now you have me thinking it's time to start decorating for Christmas. I can't wait to see your photos of what you come up with! About the quiet house...I had to laugh when I read your comment about hearing the dogs snore. That's all I hear right at this moment! It's hard for me when my daughter goes back to school after being here. I don't think I'll ever get used to it! Have a great week:)
You sure had a fun and busy Thanksgiving weekend! I would love to take a trip to a quaint little town. Good food, good company and good shopping... what more could you want? Oh, and a good looking husband to boot!
Jane, Happy belated Anniversary...looks like a wonderful area that you visited.
Blessings, Linda

[Image]What a crazy and fun past five days this has been! The house is SO quiet, I can hear the dogs snoring! Everyone is at work or school so I downloaded all 157 photos from Thanksgiving and our weekend away and I'm having such a good time looking at them as I sip my coffee and ignore the remains of breakfast around me! So...on with the show. This is my thanksgiving tablescape, and these are the flowers that The Husband bought.
[Image]They made a perfect centerpiece in the wicker basket I showed you last week. I just stuffed some craft paper down in it to support the vase. I added some mercury glass candles and some pine cones and we were ready for the feast!
[Image]After all my fuss about keeping traditions, Emily and I ended up brining the turkey on Wednesday. A friend had all the leftover ingredients to use so that helped. And I really think it was a success. Emily also made three side dishes and we had a great time cooking in the kitchen together. New traditions, new memories! It really was a wonderful dinner.
[Image]Family came for dessert, we girls gathered together where all the appetizers and nibbles were while the guys hung out in the family room watching football (as usual). It really was a fun day and I was exhausted by the time everyone left!
[Image]The next day we were up early to head to Cedarburg, Wisconsin for our anniversary weekend! It was about a two hour drive and very scenic once we hit the rolling hills of Wisconsin. Our B&B was really more like an inn...well, it was an inn. This is the lobby and to the right is a large dining room where we had breakfast.
[Image]This was our room on the third floor with a wonderful view of the main street. It was just perfect in size and The Husband thought it was the best place we had ever stayed.
[Image]A bottle of Champagne was chilling along with a box of chocolates. We were in our room so rarely, we ended up bringing it home with us!
[Image]We were out sightseeing and shopping as soon as we dropped our bags.
[Image]The town was so charming, I was snapping pictures like mad!
[Image]I loved this little alley next to a shop that specialized in all things for gardening lovers. I wanted to go back for some things that I fell in love with but somehow with the sensory overload, we forgot.
[Image]This rustic birdhouse was on my list. Boo hoo!
[Image]This little guy dressed like Santa sold every kind of popcorn imaginable!
[Image]Back at the inn, they served wine and cheese and we got to know some of the other guests. One very nice lady took a picture of me and The Husband!
[Image]The next day we went on a tour of a winery. While we waited I took some pics.
[Image]This shop sold all the accessories but not the dishes...pretty tablescape!
[Image]Aren't they darling?
[Image]During the wine tour we learned about how the grapes are grown and things like fermentation. And there was a little wine tasting. I was surprised at how many different kinds I actually liked because I usually stick with white. Upstairs you could buy all their different wines but we ended up getting some gourmet cheeses and mustard. After the tour we went to dinner at a really nice place called The Farmstead. I didn't bring my camera but it was just awesome, A real barn at one time with all the original wood and floors.
We are so looking forward to going back again, perhaps in the summer (hear that, Cindy?). Friday was windy and freezing, about 25 degrees, but Saturday was sunny and you just had to walk on the right side of the street. The shops has complimentary hot chocolate and cider to keep us warm. It really was a magical weekend.
So, it's back to Monday and cleaning up, putting the fall things away and getting ready for that Christmas tree to come and take up all the available space in my living room! I think I'll just enjoy it for how it is right now and get started on my Christmas list. Abby has sent me emails with wish lists from all her favorite stores. I think she adds more every day. We picked up a few gifts over the weekend, too. So at least I've started! I hope I didn't overload you with pictures! How did you recover over the weekend? I wanted to watch some Christmas movies last night but I couldn't hold my eyes open! I hope all of you had a wonderful Thanksgiving and I want to hear all about it! :)
I'm joining Marty at A Stroll Thru Life for Tabletop Tuesday!

Love you...
XO,
Sheila

Hi Jane!
You sure had a fun and busy Thanksgiving weekend! I would love to take a trip to a quaint little town. Good food, good company and good shopping... what more could you want? Oh, and a good looking husband to boot!
