Hi Jane, Glad you are enjoying your iPhone! Cute and fun selfies! Your holiday will be awesome. It reminds me of the Thanksgivings of my childhood, when 6 aunts/uncles and their families all got together - such fun! Happy memories...and that is what you are making...enjoy and don't stress! Hugs, Beh
Jane, I love the selfies! You are so pretty!! Rusty is pretty darn cute too. :) I'm worried about Holly with the Christmas trees this year too. Last year, she made a habit of climbing them, but she was just a kitten. This year, she's ummm...a little bigger (wider) LOL! I love your tree skirt. I'll have to check out that blogger for sure. Our current tree skirt came from Kroger about 20 years ago! Definitely time for an upgrade. :) Have a wonderful Thanksgiving, my friend!!!!
Jane, You are so funny! I hope that you and your family have a wonderful Thanksgiving.

I hope you ended up having a wonderful Thanksgiving. Sounds like you were planning for a large group. My niece hosted us this year and brined her turkey too. We've never done that before, but it was very good! I didn't know what I was missing before getting an iPhone either. I love mine and now we'll probably be getting one for our youngest son for Christmas. Sounds like you're already using yours to the fullest!
Hope you had a great Thanksgiving Jane and that everything came off without a hitch. I love my iPhone as well ~ are you on Instagram yet? Let me know ~ I love it. Happy weekend. xo

[Image]Are you ready for "you know what"? It's the final crunch and this is where I lose all sense of urgency, organization and sanity. Last night I was lying in bed just, drifting off to sleep and I remembered the turkey. The turkey downstairs in the freezer. The 18 pound turkey that needs to defrost in 48 hours. Whoa...see Jane run!
I guess it's just a waiting game. I did my shopping Friday and even ran out last night to pick up a few things I forgot. I will probably duck out tomorrow with The Husband to get the wine and pick up some fresh flowers. When I saw these at my grocery store last week I asked it they were fresh and I was assured they came in that morning. I just felt that they looked a little shaggy so these can stay on the island and I think I may get something else for the yet undetermined centerpiece. I can't set the table yet as I need it and to be honest, I love mixing and matching dishes and napkins and whatever...I don't want to rush it. I can play with that tomorrow, so, no tablescape until my next post. I want to take my time. :)
The Husband and I got IPhones. Up until now I've had an android. I didn't know they were so much fun. I was in the middle of painting that hall closet (more on that later) and I noticed the lighting in the bathroom was quite flattering (and believe me, I need that!). So I took a few "selfies". I'm not crazy about the light on my nose, it's really not crooked like this!
[Image]I don't know if any of you are familiar with Sonya of Beyond The Screen Door. This girl can sew! She made me a beautiful table runner last year that I prize. I recently asked her to make me a tree skirt, the one I have has seen better days. This arrived the other day. I'll get a better picture when it's under my tree. It's a pretty oatmeal colored linen with a cream colored ruffle. There are cute ties where the skirt meets in a circle. I also had to have this star shaped tray which she had in her shop. I highly recommend that you visit her. You can even email her if there is something special you want.
[Image]Still having fun with the selfies. When we got these phones after our other contract ran out, I was a little cavalier. I asked my son, Jeff, "So what's so great about this phone?" His eyes almost bulged out of his head. "Do you know that you are holding a $500.00 miniature computer in your hands??" So I'm spending a little more time with this. I do Facetime with my girls, store my notes and reminders in it and actually use the calender. And I downloaded some Christmas music.
Have you been watching any of the Christmas movies? I had my fill again on Sunday. A lot of these are shown over and over. If you missed Naughty Or Nice, you have to watch it. It's hysterically funny!
[Image]I thought I'd show you a recent picture of my granddog, Rusty. What a beast he is. I'm glad Emily and Mike are waiting a bit until they have kids because this guy is a handful! He loves to get into everything. She's not sure what she's going to do with having a Christmas tree. It will only take a matter of minutes before he knocks it down and eats it in one bite. But he's so darn cute!
[Image]Oh no!
[Image]When I last wrote, I had some plans for this closet. We thought we might make it look like a mud room sort of set up because I was changing things around and hanging hooks along the back. I painted it gray (sorry about the bad picture...very poor lighting here) and it wasn't a fun job. This doorway is about 4 feet wide but inside, the width of the closet is 9 feet and I had to squeeze into the sides. Anyway, I had my doubts about how it would look without doors, mainly because this is a "real" closet that gets used and The Husband's black and gray dress coats and many many golf jackets aren't going to look so fabulous. If you've seen mudrooms in magazines, catalogs or on blogs, they have the picture perfect bench with pretty baskets and hooks and shelves above. And those hooks are holding nothing more than a dog leash and a straw sunhat. I speak from experience. We have a mudroom at the lakehouse just as I described and it's totally ready for it's close up! And so...the closet doors are going back up. I have to paint them and then I will be done with this project. And I am never ever ever ever painting anything else again.
[Image]So there.
Now I'm off to the Dollar Tree to find a plastic container to brine my turkey in. I will be up bright and early to do that. And I always make my potatoes and stuffing ahead of time as well as desserts. So it will be a busy day. And then Thursday the family will all be in one place, here, in our home. Just the thought of that warms my heart. That's what I give the most thanks for, I've been blessed with a family and so many great people in my life. We are all in good health and life is good. I will be thinking about this as I bustle around my kitchen on Thanksgiving, doing what I love the most for those I love even more!
Many blessings to all of you. Happy Thanksgiving!
XO,
Jane
