Happy Valentines Day Jane! For the first time in years we are venturing out for dinner, lol, I suspect it will make us want to be home next year, we will see.
I totally understand your decorating conundrum. I do the same thing, make choices based on what I have feeling that I can't get rid of a perfectly good piece of furniture just becasue I am sick of it or it doesn't fit my style any more. Problem is, you then spend money on something you don't like and it is self perpetuating! I'm having the same issues right now and trying to figure out what on earth to do about it. I really think, in the long run it is more of a waste of money to buy things that don't fit what you want.

Happy Valetine's Day Blondie. Many years ago, I had a chair and ottoman covered in a fabric, I thought was wonderful...didn't like it so much after it was done. Although I still have it,in a bedroom. I like plains, checks and stripes for the main rooms. I do plains and add pillows and throws. Your red velvet cookies look yummy. Hope your husband is all healthy. xoxo,Susie

Happy Valentine's Day!

I just had two chairs recovered, and for the price of the fabric (on sale at Hancock) and labor, I could have bought new. These were old family chairs though, so we wanted to keep them. Can't wait to see what you finally decide!

Have a wonderful night. I am also cooking dinner..Pork Chops with wine and garlic (pioneer woman recipe). I have the table all set nice and romantic for 3. We still have baby girl (12). I'm with you on the too much flower feminine decorating. Sometimes I look at some blogs and wonder how in the world does their husbands live in all that? lol

Good idea Jane. If it really isn't what you have envisioned then I say look until something hits you smack in the face that you know you can resist! I had two wingback chairs covered in a white fabric and it cost about $800 each to get them reupholstered. The problem is that I am now tired of the style and want something new, so reupholstering isn't always the best answer unless you plan to live with the style forever!

Enjoy your romantic Valentine dinner with the husband.

hugs
Sissie

My hubby would love those cookies. The flowers are pretty.
I would mix it up in your living room and not make it all matchy. I don't know for sure what your style is for sure but go with what you like. Maybe take some pictures of the style you want. Get what you want now while you can.
Happy Valentines Day.

Happy Valentines Day, to you and The Husband, Jane!

We love to eat "in" on this day as well! Mr D came down with that terrible virus overnight so we are going to dine in our jammies and hunker down with a fire.

Those cookies look yummy! I would love the recipe!

Decorating decisions can be tough. We have been deliberating about sofa's for almost a year! Like you, our furniture also needs to be pet friendly.

Such a wonderful dinner!
Enjoy!

Hi Jane,
The flowers are so pretty!
And now I am curious to what route your going to take with the room decorating.
I know it will be good!
I made a romantic dinner for 3! hehe. Dan, Addison and I.
But it was all good and Addison actually likes steak with saute mushrooms and onions. Go figure, she is only 2.
Hugs friend,
Cindy

Jane, I know you would share those delicious red velvet butter cookies with me if we lived close to each other....they look scrumptious!

Pretty flowers, too....I have been seeing some lovely arrangements with different colored roses on Pinterest lately, and I love the look. I might start a new board with all my free time today! :/

Oh, and I do like your choice for your chairs. It was not my first pick, *but* you truly couldn't go wrong with any of the choices in my opinion.

Have a great day! I might send you another SOS email later....

Valentine's (((hugs))),

Leave it to me to be in the minority with the striped fabric! I think it is interesting how our furniture can affect us. When we moved into this house, we had so much going on. My husband had just had cancer surgery, my daughter was graduating from high school and I was leaving a town and people I loved as well as giving up my dream job. Needless to say, I was a mess. We opted to buy all new living room furniture and I wanted something "different" than I'd had. I also wasn't really focused at the time. Long story short...I bought the complete window display at a very nice furniture store near here. I bought a floral print sofa and loveseat and beachy looking side tables with a matching trunk thingy coffee table. I loved it for about 6 months. I can't exactly explain it, but the busy pattern made me nervous or unsettled. I felt limited to color choices, Christmas was a nightmare as my floral had dark red in it and so Christmas red and green was impossible to use. After about 3 years, we bit the bullet and moved it all to the basement and I bought espresso leather sofa and loveseat and dark tables. I was immediatly calmer in my home. I can change the look with pillows and throws. I'm so glad that I made the change. It is worth exploring all your options-I made an expensive mistake!

Redecorating seems like it would be totally fun, but it is HARD making up your mind, isn't it? When you know how long you will be living with your decision, you want to get the right thing! I am going as neutral as I can with my new stuff so that I can change up the color schemes with pillows and other accessories. I am sure your room will be lovely!

I'm late to this, Jane, but loved the Valentine theme anyway!
I understand the whole decorating question - it's a lot of money and not something you're going to switch in two years, so it should be your vision and not one else's. Stick with your instinct!

GOOD for you for figuring out that your home should reflect what YOU like, Jane!!! I like a lot of different styles, so when it comes to buying something new I always have a difficult time deciding!
