Hi Jane! Not too far from where I live, it snowed last weekend ~ 3"! The mountains still have beautiful snow. It still gets down into the high 30s at night and daytime temps in the 70s. Loving Bend right now!!! Have a ton of summer fun .........
It cooled down just a bit for us because we got some much-needed rain. However, the temps are climbing back up and the humidity is out the roof! Your cottage and surrounding area are gorgeous! Have fun!!!
Hi Jane...my daisies look exactly like yours. I can't wait for them to open. I moved my blog to WordPress so come visit me if you have time. I don't know if I'm coming up in readers and on blog rolls yet. It's all hard for me to understand! Enjoy the rest of your week. ~Ann
Wow, Jane, shoveling sand sounds like very hard work! Your ribs sound delicious and your flowers are beautiful. Stay cool, we are having lots of rain here. xo

sounds so tranquil, I was hoping the daisies had bloomed, I remembered you mentioned them last post or before. They are my favorite flower (well one of them), I had a large bed of them at the house.
What a perfect spot for summer fun and relaxation your lake cottage is, I feel calmer just looking at your lovely photos! I hope you get some rain, we finally got a little bit today!
You know those daisies popped as soon as you went home, Jane. : ) It looks so peaceful and serene there; I'm sure it's a great getaway. I'll bet you are looking forward to your two week stay.
We spent the weekend in the Great Smoky Mountains. No rain on Saturday thankfully but rain ever since. We have actually had some flash flooding here at home. Love your porch and you are being brave with wisteria as it will take over. We cut ours off the old house as it was getting too large.
The lake house is looking great! What a beautiful rose you have blooming, I just love the color. I don't know how you keep things alive in pots while you're away, it seems I have to water sometimes twice a day to keep things from drying out here. It was a scorcher here over the weekend too but rained all day today. I don't mind a bit since I was at work anyway. Aren't you glad it's nearly summer? Enjoy it!
Hi Jane, It was hot and windy here over the weekend. We got a little rain early Monday morning, but we needed more. We are so dry. Your house at the lake looks so inviting and your porch would be the ideal place to sit with a book and glass of lemonade. Have a great day. Your Missouri Friend.
It WAS a hot weekend, wasn't it, Jane??? Whoa! And we just saw the forecast for next weekend through Tuesday. Nineties for 4 days in a row -- and no rain til Tuesday. Yikes! We better haul out the extra sprinklers!!
All the work will be worth it when you get back to the Lake House! Hopefully the daisies will be blooming too Jane. We went up to the Adirondacks on the bike this past weekend and it was gorgeous! xo
I am sure all the shoveling was worth it. Your daisies will open. Patience. Mine decided to wander away to a different spot...how dare they! Had to plant new ones in the spot they abandoned. Hopefully your weather is more bearable now and you can enjoy your home away from home. XXX
Looks like you are almost ready to just relax and enjoy the lake.It has not been dry here-it has rained almost every day for over a week. Mushrooms are starting to grow in the lawn! Have a nice week.
Hi Jane, your weekends at the lake sound so relaxing and beautiful!... I would be outside all day too, with my sweet tea and a good book... all of your flowers are so pretty!... and I love the lake!... xoxo Julie Marie
What a fun post Jane! I love getting caught up with you! Your plants all look wonderful, and so does your porch area. We need some rain too. Cool here today and yesterday but it looks like its going to heat up for the weekend. Galena is coming fast! Yipee! Hugs, Cindy
I am still waiting for my daisies to bloom too! Your porch is looking great ~ I love the little bird nest.. so sweet. Hope that you have a great weekend.
Sounds like you are enjoying summer, despite the heat! It was really hot here too until the past few days. And we sure could use a rain, I've been watering like crazy! Love that neat planter of yours with four pots. Your porch is so welcoming, no wonder a robin decided to build her nest there:)
We've had a lot of rain this week and are finally enjoying some dry weather. Hopefully, the rain is headed in your direction now. Love that wisteria vine on your porch! That will look gorgeous when it blooms, but looks great as it is too.
A lake weekend where you do a little work and have fun at the same time sounds perfect to me. I've never tried grilling ribs and after reading about yours, really want to try them.
Oh Jane, what a summer place! I could just sit there all day long and enjoy the view, sounds and smells of day! Your slab of ribs with an apple whiskey sauce...yummy!!
I will stay in and help with the food rather than haul sand! What a beautiful setting. So glad you get to use it often. I love your beach. All of your flowers will be so charming. So fun that you get to have two whole weeks there! Enjoy, enjoy! (I have to say, I will take the scorchers if I can be around water Jane!)
Everything looks so beautiful and welcoming. Love your new little friend that came to live with you (your sweet Robin) how fun is that? Hope you have a wonderful weekend!
Well, I think you know that this just sounds like bliss to me. We have been on such a fast pace the past few weeks with the carpeting and the wedding (please go check out the pics) that I just want some time to do nothing. Dad and his "lady friend" are here now but they leave in the morning. I pulled something in my neck at the wedding, I think from heavy purse during the day topped by out of shape dancing all night. So, we plan to spend the weekend just sitting with a book, the heating pad and maybe a cold beverage! Your lake home is just perfect...love it!
Hi Jane.... what a lucky chickie you are... it's just BEEE.U.TI.FUL! Hmmm... I'm with you... I don't like the heat, but we live in the NW... not too much of that here, although we ARE having some sunshine today. Finally. I think our garden is about to poop our before it even starts to grow...
That is it!!!! i'm thinking you should rent your place out for me to visit....everything is just so very pretty and dreamy! Thank you so much for linking up your post for the rest of us to enjoy at this weeks garden party! Hope you have a fantastic weekend! xoox, tracie
I am so jealous. I've always wanted to live on a lake. Really - if someone gave me the chance to move to a home on a lake, I'd jump at it. We spent lots of time at our extended family's cottage when I was young.
Your porch looks so pretty and summerized. I'm in the process of doing that myself. Our weather got hot fast but it's a dry heat so it's tolerable as long as I can find some shade! Stay cool at your private beach and have a wonderful weekend! Jen

Great to have a husband with a friend who likes to work around the lake house. ;-) Such a pretty few and nice to have a sandy beach. Have a great summer! ~ Sarah PS It's been in the upper 90s here. ;-(
What an amazing lot of work the recondition a beach! I am so envious of you porch. We are adding a new front porch and I can't wait to just be able to relax out there. Wish I had your beautiful view!
Your summer house is a lot of work, but I can read through the lines your love for it - and no wonder! We haven't had a single hot day yet, and only a few sunny ones - and luckily, one of those was the wedding day!
Jane, Everything looks so inviting! What a great place to be able to go and get away! There is nothing better then summer at the lake! The heat has been hot here in Nashville also, this week is going to be in the 90's as it has been on and off most of June, I think we only had one week of "spring" weather! Rebecca

Hi darling, this past w/k was a dandy wasn't it. We've got high winds here the past couple of days, I've had to sit the beautiful ferns on the floor of the porch they were just getting beat to death. Thanks so much for your concern about Mr. P it means the world. hugs ~lynne~

[Image]Whew! Did everyone have a scorcher of a weekend like we did? It was in the 90's and if it weren't for that little breeze, it would have been miserable. For me, it's just too hard to stay inside when it's sunny and beautiful, so I made myself busy. The Husband's best friend came up and helped him replenish the beach. This view overlooks the small bay. What a job that was, shoveling 4 yards of sand into the water. I was however, in charge of food and beverages!
[Image]I also got the front porch summertime ready. It's so peaceful to sit out here with a book and listen to all the action on the lake. I picked up some plants at the local florist in town and potted a few, these do well without drying out too badly. I have matching chairs on the other side of the porch, but I need some sort of table between them so I'll wait to show you that side.
[Image]The robin that was previously here finally went away and a new one came and built a different nest...I could tell by the material. Of course I kept scaring it going in and out! The Husband thinks I should put a big rock up here to keep them away but I think that's cruel...it's such a perfect place for a nest!
[Image]On this side of the porch you can see the wisteria that has gone wild. I actually had some blooms near the bottom this spring but it is still so young. It has finally reached the balcony above. I believe it may just eat the house!
[Image]I potted this little basket inside. It held ivy that I lost over the winter.
[Image]A newly opened rose...
[Image]...and daisies that stubbornly won't open! I want some cut flowers! I wonder if it is because it is so dry. I watered everything in sight but we have no sign of rain coming this week. What's a girl to do?
[Image]This is one of my favorite plants. I have it potted with lobelia. It will be pretty when it spills over.
All work but a little play, too. I made a slab of ribs with an apple whiskey sauce...you have to try it, I think it's made by Bull's Eye. We sat out late at night and looked at the stars through the trees. Soon we will be having a lot of company up, so I enjoy this peaceful time. And we are planning our two week stay next month. How fast the time goes!
I hope all of you had a wonderful weekend. I 'm joining Tracie's Garden Party again this week, I met so many nice ladies with beautiful gardens last week. Visit Fishtail Cottage and see what I mean! Have a great week! :)
