Now those candies are sweet! I made something similar at Christmas with Rolos. We've had lots of rain here too, causing me to fall behind with yard cleaning, did the two front flower beds, they need some more touch up, but the back is so bad. Heavy downpours this am and still very cloudy out now. Oh well. xo
Thanks so much for the shout out, Jane! Glad you liked the candy! It's addictive, I tell ya. :) I love your new dress and sandals. Old Navy never seems to disappoint. Love their summer styles. The earrings you picked out are so pretty. I'm off to check out her blog now. I hope you get to plant some flowers soon. Feel free to send the rain my way. :) We're sweltering down here. LOL!
We have had decent weather, so my inside projects have been placed on hold! Mr D has had a couple weekends off, we have been outside working fast a feverishly before rain hit again!

You chose a wonderful pair of earrings from Holly Lane Designs, Jane! Totally you and hope to see them on you in a photo one day too. :) Enjoy your week!!
Now I'm looking at your candy and thinking it would be fun to have at my little girls tea party, if we need more sugar. But they look cute! It sounds like you've been doing things that don't sound too boring! We have rain here too--we seem to be in a pattern that won't break.
Oh- I am going to make that candy with the kids, Jane- Thanks for the recipe for that. Love your OldNavy outfit. It is great and easy for summer. I hear you about Pier One. You and I are shopping the same this summer...do I want it/need it/love it. I am determined not to buy more STUFF! Blessings-hope you have a good week. xo Diana
Love your posts always Janie... your new dress and sandals are darling... sorry you missed the dog show at the lake... Tessy got stung by a hornet today three times and had to be rushed in for epinephrine... (sp?)... bewtween my hand and her bites, we're a mess!... can't wait to see your patio all decorated with plants in pots... and that candy sounds delish!... I love Pier One too... I need to drop by and see all their fun Summer stuff... I LOVE all the ivy growing on your house!... enjoy your Summer rain, xoxo Julie Marie
I LOVE your ivy!! I have always wanted some to grow on my house. That candy looks scrumptous! We have been camping every spare minute that we can (between rain storms) and have been doing a lot of smores. Oh how good! Cute outfit from old navy :)
Hi Jane, yum yum, your candy looks so good.....Sweet dress and saddles, I love Old Navy.....Sorry Milo missed the show too...I love the Ivy, so so beautiful...Blessings Francine.
LOL about Milo, and I love your new outfit and earrings! I hope the weather lets up so you can get going on your summer planting. I have tomatoes that should be ripe by this weekend if the sun can find its way out of the clouds! Enjoy your week!
I am envious of your ivy! I think that looks so charming! Your weekend sounds lovely to me! Our week has started after the weekend I am worn out! Hopefully my energy level will be up tomorrow. Right now I just want to NAP!
jane, firstly, your candies look delicious!! yum! and I love your summer outfit! so cute! but I really love your mantra when buying things! I should steal that for when I go shopping!!! hope you don't mind! might save me a LOT of pennies!!!
I had ivy oon the front of my house once upon a time. My friend said it would grow into the crevices of the brick and break it up....I don't know if it's true but we pulled it all off and my house looked sooo naked. :)) I love pretzel candy...I made some with Rollos..now I must try yours. I love Old Navy...they do have some cute things and I adore their tee shirts. Your dress is adorable. xo bj
I've made a similar candy before, but with Rolos - for a party. No one here would eat anything like that except me, so I don't dare make them! I like your new earrings and of course, much more special when you won them from a blogger. Cute summer dress from Old Navy - I don't have anything like that at all. I should go up there and see what they have, but like you, am on a very limited budget sooo...well, maybe not. lol I hear you about the rain; it's been really discouraging with trying to get any yard work done. I bought some more plants today at Home Depot. xoxo
Hi Blondie! Stopping by to check in on you...as summer sllllooowwwly approaches (is the weather still the pits by you, too??) I'm thinking of you and the lake house!
Hope you're doing well and fully recovered from your big day as mother of the beautiful bride. Let's all have a wonderful summer, OK? :-)
I love the ivy wall. What colors are you thinking for your pots. My garden plans have been put on hold for the past two weeks because of the rain. I have most of the plants, and as the rain continues, the plant pile gets larger my husband says. I need it to dry up so I can till the garden to get some good dirt. Lots of work is getting done on the addition though. Alaina
Those candies look yummy:) I will be trying that recipe! Cute outfit! I love the colors! Your ivy is crazy! I thought mine was taking over:) Have a blessed day dear friend, HUGS!

What beautiful ivy! It reminds me of all the English homes I see in pictures but I know it has to be trimmed. Hmmmm..I wonder where I could plant some ivy here?
Hope your hubby got to have some candy, Blonde girl. I like the gray and orange combination of your little outfit. I can't wear flip-flops...that strap between the toes...would make me tell national secrets.LOL Hope you can get your flowers out. xoxo,Susie
Love that little treat...I'm going to copy you and take them to a couple of graduation parties. I know what you mean about being all ready to plant and then have it rain on your parade. Hope you get things done soon...by the way, I've always wanted ivy growing on my house...yours is so pretty. Have a fun weekend coming up. Balisha
Those candy treats looked yummy! My family would probably like those too. Those would also be cute for the 4th of July using red, white and blue candies. I'm a huge ivy lover! I have some growing over a retaining wall by our driveway and would love to have some on our house, but since it's not brick, it's not safe. I can see why you need to scale yours back though. It has really taken over! It's easy to do that. I grew up with ivy and have loved it ever since. I hate that you didn't get to go to the dog show. I would've loved to have seen pics! Maybe next year.
Those look good...the square pretzels are smart, I've only used little regular ones for those kinds of things. Mine would not have made it to the freezer overnight!
The dress is cute and I love flip-flops! I agree with the "do I need it, do I love it" part of the mantra. However, I'm tired of things I feel like I have to keep forever. I think my mantra should be "can I wear it, eat it or use it up"?
Cute dress ~ I feel the same way about the rain but I am one step ahead of you and have all my flowers in. I have had those pretzel/chocolate treats and they are yummy! Hope you are having a good week. xo
Hi Jane, CC and I really like Old Navy jeans. They seem to be a good fit for curves. I wear the Sweethearts. The dress is cute. I love the ivy-we have vinca vine at the base of our stone in the front of the house and I keep yanking if off the house.Maybe I should let it climb. xo, olive
We have had tons of rain too-now we have tons of mosquitoes! I love sweet and salty-my new favorite is Breyer's Pecan Praline ice cream-and then sprinkle sea salt on it-yeah I know!
hi jane, I love getting caught up with you. Oh those candies, how wonderful! I love your ivy, we have some too and it really can take on a life of it's own. And that outfit..too cute girlfriend. We have had so much rain...I'm looking for a nice sunny week but I don't know when that will happen. Hope you get to plant soon.
Wow.. I want to make them this weekend. : ) I love ivy covered exteriors! Your new old navy outfit is pretty. I am crazy over sun dresses! Hope that you get back to the lake soon.
Jane..you are so funny. Old Navy doesn't have "high end" clothing? Really? I've never been to one of their stores..at least it sounds reasonable. I LOVE ivy! I want to plant some to climb up the side of our home. I know it has to be kept in check..and I do know it can do damage..but I STILL WANT IT, Jane!! I do! I do! I love yours!
Hasn't this weather been crazy? We still don't have our beans planted, but they are hard at it today-trying to get anything that is close to being dry planted. That candy looks delish!
Wow all that candy is making me hungry! Would love some with ice cream right about now! Sorry you didn't get to plant anything..I know our weather has been so bad...too much rain, then tornados, now we are 95 degrees! Love all the ivy on your house..I've been growing Boston ivy on a brick wall (actually it's my neighbors brick fence and Iove how it's softening the view! Happy Planting..hope you get some flower time! Miss Bloomers
I can't believe you made candy. Would you believe that's something I've never done. My hubby would have a field day with your ivy. He gets carried away about things growing on the house and just starts tearing it away. I start screaming!
[Image]I hope everybody has started their week out well. I had a slow weekend...okay, interpret that to be boring. I did make candy, though! Isn't that odd? The only time I make candy is around Christmas so this was a little fun. While perusing blogs yesterday morning, I visited, Lisa at Texas Decor and she had a post up about making these Hershey Pretzel Hugs. How cute are these? And they have that sweet/salty flavor we all crave.
[Image]I was heading out to the grocery store so I decided to get the ingredients. I made them after dinner last night. The Husband and Abby were hovering over me as I put the finishing touches on them, then I sadly had to inform them that they had to go in the freezer overnight! Ha!
[Image]They are SO good. Just plop a Hershey Hug on a waffle pretzel, warm them up in a 200 degree oven about 7 minutes and then while hot and gooey, add the M&M's. Now, you have to go to Lisa's blog to get the details. She is such a sweet girl and has a fantastic blog that I've been following recently. Tell her I said Hello!
[Image]Another new blogger friend of mine is Diane Cayton-Hakey, and I had the good luck to win a gift certificate on her blog to Holly Lane Designs. I picked out these earrings and it wasn't easy. This website can be as addicting as the candy...so many pretty jewelry pieces and great quality. I would have shown you these on but I have no one here to take a picture! Now, visit Diane as well. What a lovely lady; smart, beautiful, hilarious and she writes some really relevant posts that gets everyone commenting. Thanks, Diane!
[Image]In my meager attempt at competing with the fashion blogs, I wanted to show you the little dress and sandals I got at Old Navy. It was sort of funny, Emily has Thursdays and Fridays off work and we usually go bumming. I don't know about you, but at the end of the week I'm lucky if I have spare change in my wallet for the bus. Last week we went to Homegoods and I trudged along behind her while she picked out some really cute things for her backyard deck. Funny though, as my eye caught things I liked, I was able to be more logical about whether or not I really needed it, liked it, or if it was worth the money. Anyway, this past Thursday she wanted me to go to Old Navy with her to return something. "You can't keep doing this to me, Em!" Well, The Husband took pity on me and gave me a little "pocket money", as my mom used to call it and off we went. But first, we stopped at Pier 1 where she had to return something as well. OMG, it was like being at an outdoor summer party! As I haven't even cleaned up my patio yet, I saw it all coming together with the help of a few outdoor pillows, some really inexpensive lanterns, straw placemats and cute candles. But again, my funds were limited so I was very cautious about what I put in my basket. My mantra is: Do you need it? Do you love it? Will you have it forever?
Onward to Old Navy. Not exactly your place for quality clothes but you can always find something fun and affordable. Hence, this little cotton summer dress and sandals. And I found a white tank top to wear under it...all for $37.00! My biggest treat throughout our little shopping spree was that Emily kept telling me it looked like I had lost weight! Well, I had given up on that notion even though I have curbed my sweet tooth radically. I said, "That's great, Emily, because right now I'm so hungry I could faint." Silly me, no breakfast or lunch and it was 3:00. She came up to me a little bit later with a fruit and nut bar that made me want to gag looking at it. "They had Hershey Kisses but since you look so good, I bought you this!" What a sweetheart. So I have my fingers crossed that I just may be slimming down, but I'm not going to dwell on it. I'll be starting a new insane diet.
[Image]Here's the side of my house in all it ivy glory. Believe it or not, there are three windows under all that greenery. I love it though, the light filters in just perfectly. But I do have to trim it. The English ivy on the brick is at war with the German ivy on the ground. So my clippers are sharpened! I haven't had a chance to plant my flowerpots yet, I'm waaaaay behind on all things gardening. Yesterday I decided that today would be the day I would go to the nursery and get flowers and tomatoes and herbs, oh yes! I pulled out some pretty planters that I had been hoarding downstairs and I meticulously made a list of the color scheme I am going to have this summer and what flowers I wanted to try. I went to bed a happy girl. And then...I woke up at 2:00 a.m. to the sound of thunder and rain pelting the windows. Milo jumped into bed with us and all I could think was rain, mud, mess and another day I'd have to put off playing in the dirt. So today is iffy, it's gloomy with dark clouds drifting in and out. Should I make a run for it? Nothing is more disappointing than having all those flats and pots sitting outside and not being able to do anything. Woe is me.
Oh, by the way, we missed going to the lake this weekend so Milo missed out on being in the Ugly (handsome) Dog Show. What a disappointment, all that money on teeth whitening and having his chest shaved...
See you soon!
XO,
Jane

I love those candies. They are surprisingly addictive! I can't believe your ivy - that is happy, happy, happy!
Your fashion finds are too cute. Those flip flops are such a fun and unique color. Have fun this week

I can't believe you made candy. Would you believe that's something I've never done.
My hubby would have a field day with your ivy. He gets carried away about things growing on the house and just starts tearing it away. I start screaming!
