Now, I definitely don't mean to be rude or judgmental here. It just seems funny to me that Crazy Mary is a common character name. Is there a movie or book that everyone else read as children that I never read? Something that would make the moniker Crazy Mary stick?
I can't seem to locate it on the internet. Someone want to fill me in?

When I was growing up in Geneva, IL, there was always talk of Crazy Mary. She lived on the east side of town, very close to where I lived at the time. She was a mysterious old woman who usually walked everywhere. She was pretty overweight. She looked somewhat like a bag lady. This is not common in Geneva, one of the richest Chicago suburbs. In fact, African-Americans are not even common in Geneva. Therefore, it makes sense that young people would tend to spread rumors and tales about Crazy Mary in the very classic, Boo Radley-esque fashion. Why would we be scared of a bag lady that walked around Geneva doing nothing?
What's almost scarier is that Crazy Mary must have moved; there was a recent citing in Chicago. Maybe you have a Crazy Mary in your hometown. Maybe you have a Crazy Mary living nextdoor to you and you don't even know it yet. How's that for crazy?
