The Pleasant View school house was closed at the end of the 1950-1951 school year. Last teacher was Hazel Plumb who died in 1995 at the age of 100. The school sat for several years on the grounds of the Louisa County Fair in Columbus Junction. Not sure when it was brought there, but it was in place for the bicentennial in 1976. Floods in 1990 and 1993 caused it to be re-located to the historical society grounds where it is currently on display. I'm not certain of the year it was re-located but my recollection was it might have been in 1994, 1995, or 1996. The original location for the school was along county road x-37 (paved) that goes southeast from Columbus City. Located in Columbus City township, and it sat somewhere along the road where section 5 and section 4 meet. There is no longer anything in that location to show evidence of that place.
